289 Walk Hill Street

Impact Advisory Group Meeting

Description: Impact Advisory Group (IAG) Meeting to discuss changes to the proposal put forward by The Residences at Walk Hill, LLC that respond to concerns heard thus far in the community process. IAG meetings prioritize discussion between the project proponent (i.e. the developer) and IAG members. Although anyone is welcome to attend IAG meetings and listen to the discussion, the public meeting on February 15, detailed below, is the more appropriate forum for the broader public to provide feedback about the project.

Subject: 289 Walk Hill Street Updates
Hi,

A few updates regarding the 289 Walk Hill proposed development.

A. Caroline from Councilor Campbell's office told us at the last neighborhood meeting that the large volume of concerned residents contacting their office and participating in the community meetings had the following result:

The BPDA told Charlie Gill the developer that he must make more modifications to be more responsive to our community!

He will be presenting again at two community meetings at Mass Audubon's Boston Nature Center and Wildlife Sanctuary, 500 Walk Hill St. Boston, MA:

* Jan 31, 6:00-7:00 pm: Impact Advisory Group meeting (public may attend and listen).
* Feb. 15,  6:30-8:30 pm: Public meeting. Please participate!

B. The Boston Transportation and public health departments conducted a rapid response site visit to the Walk Hill/American Legion intersection after the tragic Dec. 31 traffic fatality that occurred there. Short and long term traffic-calming and pedestrian/bike safety measures were discussed, including the Haley school zone issues. The more residents they and our reps. hear from, the more likely and the sooner they will make these real and lasting safety improvements.

C. The Boston Nature Center sent excellent feedback to the BPDA regarding their concerns about the environmental impact and the scale of the proposed development. BNC gave me permission to share this letter (attached). They are fantastic stewards of our parkway.

Best,

Lisa

Dear Sue, Lisa, et al,

In my attempt to ward off SPAM, I have a request:

PLEASE do not make visible my/our individual email address(es) when sending group emails.  Instead, use the “BCC” (blind carbon copy) box to keep them private.  Reasons (and how-to) are below.  Thank you!  /Kathryn

I’m on a mission to cut SPAM!  I have never had SPAM on my prof’l email acct until just recently; now I’ve been inundated, so I am cracking down.

Any visible email address is “harvestable.”  So…

Please use BCC instead of listing all addresses in the “To” box.  If you need help with BCC, here it is:

http://www.hoax-slayer.com/bcc-outlook-express.html

Also, pleeeease consider NOT forwarding email addresses when you send (or forward) group emails.  Here’s the big bad news why:

http://askleo.com/how_does_using_bcc_help_reduce_spam/

Others might appreciate these privacy and security measures as well.

Thank you!

Hello All,
I just noticed that this group exists . . . not clear how extensive the membership is, but wanted to spread the word that there is now a Woodbourne Neighborhood Association -- with its own google group and website, etc.  The Association was formed in order to submit an application to the City for slower streets.  Please join to keep abreast about the upcoming meeting February 16, 2017 at 6pm at one of the Bethel AME buildings on Wachusett St (the blue bldg beside the parking lot).  You should be able to get to the google group by clicking on this link or emailing me your address and I can manually add you:
(Sorry about the duplication of efforts -- this group eluded me.)
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Thanks for the update on Slow Streets & next meeting.  We are long time residents at the corner of Bourne & Walk Hill!

I have mostly been focused on 289 Walk Hill Street project.  At the Impact Advisory meeting held at the end of Jan the project has been brought down to 106 rental units. The neighborhood meeting for a review of this significant revision will be Wednesday Feb 15 at the Audubon Building at 6pm.

There are more rental housing projects under proposal on American Legion which is likely to put pressure for buses to run on Walk Hill and we should also be thinking about that issue & its impact on more cars using Walk Hill, parking and bike lanes. Lisa  Beatman is very much on top of these other issues along American Legion and that neighborhood holds regular meetings.

Hope this is the right format to communicate.

See you next week.

Sue Aquino
