Matlab 2013a File Installation Key

I've been looking around for solutions to this and can't really seem to find a good answer so I thought I'd try this. I'm trying to install MATLAB 2013a on Saucy Salamander. I have all the files already downloaded and extracted to my Desktop. The installation files are for Linux 64 bit. This is what I'm doing and getting on the terminal (keep in mind I'm completely new to Linux and Ubuntu):
I downloaded Matlab R2013a on mac OSX 10.9 from the university isd page. And after installation key page, it asks me enter the full path of license file . I tried looking archieve, bin, license.txt. But no no there is nowhere like license.lic ??
(1) There is no installation of SimPowerSystems in your copy of Matlab. Type ver at the command prompt to check for what toolboxes you have installed. If SimPowerSystems doesn't show up in the list, you will have to get the toolbox, otherwise you won't be able to run the model.
So the issue is, since MATLAB 2013a is bit old, and there many functions/arguments that wont support this version. So is there any way to update the MATLAB to a latest version without losing the support of tools that only works in 2013a? Hope you understood my question. Thanks.
All code has been successfully tested with MATLAB 2013a, MATLAB 2014a, G++ 4.7 in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and Windows Visual C++ 2010. Also, SQLite must be installed prior to performing the following steps.
The installation steps are essentially the same as for Ubuntu, except a different compiler (e.g, contained in Windows SDK 7) may instead have to be installed. If the SDK installer say it cannot proceed, quit the installation, uninstall previous instances of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, and then install Windows SDK 7 again.
Here, we do a quick test by driving the Husky remotely using MATLAB. This showcases a small portion of the abilities that MATLAB presents us. If you already have a Husky (or a virtual one), and have MATLAB 2013a or 2013b installed, you can try this out right now!
Mathworks has two annual releases of Matlab: the "a" release in the spring and the "b" release in the fall. Each release gets tagged with the current year and "a" or "b". For example, "Matlab 2013a" is the spring release for 2013.
Accessing the additional compute power of Cheaha from your desktop MATLAB install is recommended for most users because it combines the familiar MATLAB user experience with cluster computing power. However, additional steps are required to configure a desktop MATLAB installation to access worker nodes on the Cheaha cluster via the Distributed Computing Server (DCS) platform. Please see MatLab DCS for configuration information.
It is not possible to use matlabpool jobs on the cluster from your desktop due to firewall restrictions. Instead, desktop MATLAB users should use the batch submit options described in the MatLab DCS configuration to submit their jobs to the cluster. Matlabpool jobs are possible when running MATLAB directly on the cluster as described in matlabpool from the head node .
Using MATLAB directly on the cluster is recommended only for people comfortable accessing systems via a command line environment (eg. secure shell SSH). SSH access to Cheaha supports X Windows and VNC sessions for displaying a full graphical MATLAB development environment on client desktops with an X Windows servers or VNC client applications installed. For more information please see MatLab CLI. Matlabpool jobs are possible when running MATLAB directly in this environment as described in matlabpool from the head node .
At UAB, MATLAB installation support is provided by your local IT support group. Support for application specific questions is available from peers in your research group. We realize that some people are not as familiar with MATLAB as others. For this reason, we have established a MATLAB user forum (mailing list) where users of MATLAB at UAB can help answer each others questions.
Mathworks TAH license -- either campus or student -- will make it easier for everyone in the UAB community to use MATLAB, MATLAB Toolboxes (extensions) and Simulink software. Specifically, it authorizes use of MATLAB on university owned machines for all faculty, staff and students. Faculty and staff are also entitled to install the software (TAH campus - 678600) on personally owned computers. Students are authorized to install TAH student (TAH student - 731730) are authorized to install this software on their personal computer. It is important each authorized user of either TAH license to use the the authentication key corresponding to their authorized TAH license. That is, authorized users of TAH campus (678600) should use the authentication key obtained from , after selecting Mathworks/Mathlab, corresponding to the Faculty/staff group. Similarly, authorized users for TAH student (731730) should use the authentication key for the Students group. Additional parallelism can be supported by adding more worker threads via a secondary software platform known as the Distributed Computing Server (DCS). The DCS runs on a compute cluster and can provide many more worker threads to increase parallelism. UAB IT Research Computing has licensed a 128 worker DCS installation for the Cheaha compute cluster. The Parallel Computing Toolbox can be configured to access this license from desktop MATLAB installations. Please see MatLab DCS for configuration details.
If you installed Matlab before installing Psychtoolbox for Matlab from NeuroDebian,the installation will ask you for the location of your Matlab installation, and ifyou want it to rename some Matlab libraries to fix compatibility issues caused byMatlab. Answer YES to these questions, this is crucial! Otherwise hardwareaccelerated graphics will likely not work with Matlab later on.
If you installed Matlab after installing Psychtoolbox, or after you have upgradedMatlab to a more recent version you must rerun this Matlab compatibility fixingscript via: sudo dpkg-reconfigure matlab-support.
At the end of a successfull NeuroDebian installation, run the script PsychLinuxConfigurationfrom within Matlab or Octave, and follow the interactive instructions and questionsto optimize your Linux system for data collection.
If you choose installation from the distribution directly, bypassing NeuroDebian,after package installation, run the script PsychLinuxConfiguration from withinOctave once, and follow the interactive instructions and questions to optimize yourLinux system for data collection. You may be able to do without this step for aquick basic test drive or maybe for pure student training without need for hightiming precision or precise low-level control of your hardware and special equipment.
Alternatively, for the most complete and most recent version of Psychtoolbox,you can perform the regular installation via our DownloadPsychtoolbox.mscript. The following will install Psychtoolbox by checking out the Subversion repo tothe specified local directory.
On a Debian or Ubuntu based system, quit Matlab, and install the matlab-supportpackage by typing sudo apt install matlab-support into a terminal window.When it asks you for the location of your Matlab installation, tell it.When it asks you if it should rename some Matlab libraries to fix Matlabcompatibility issues, answer YES, otherwise hardware accelerated graphics willlikely not work later on!
If the matlab-support package was already installed before you installed Matlab,or after each update of Matlab, run sudo dpkg-reconfigure matlab-support torerun this fixup script, as described in the previous sentence, othewise hardwareaccelerated graphics will likely stop to work!
If regular installation via Subversion or package respositories does notwork for some reason, you can also manually download a zip file whichcontains a given Psychtoolbox release, including the source code. Thesedownloads are larger due to inclusion of the source code.

Sadly, Matlab repeatedly prompts you for activation because of limited user permissions which administrator credentials activate regularly. Since the license file is inaccessible but approaching it is quite necessary in order to sort out the issue. However, individual licenses are present in the specific folders containing your login name. Therefore, everything that relates to license is available in the licenses folder available in the Matlab installation directory. Simply check the related section of your license type and OS in order to reach the directory containing your license files. By the end, if you still perceive empty license folders then solve the problem through another way around. In other words, the license center will be your next go-to place since you need to activate Matlab manually.
Note that MATLAB may not show or give any indication of the toolbox installation progress or completion. Furthermore, using spaces and/or special characters in user and installation directory paths is not recommended as it may cause issues with the external grid generation and solver interfaces.
