Hi (former) Worcester Ice Cream Social! I wanted to send you all this funny little video that made me laugh-especially the first song, since we played it so often. I am grateful we all had the opportunity to play together-it inspired me, and I hope to get more into drumming in the near future!

Much love
Amanda

The guy playing tuba is a music professor and tuba instructor at Brigham Young.  I played with him at jazz camp in New Orleans three years ago.  He was there to play piano, and I had started playing tuba about 8 months earlier.  All week long the “campers” were assigned to different groups every day, so about four days in I was playing tuba with him and five other people.  I was awful.  Cows would have stampeded.

Anybody else see this in Craigslist a few weeks ago?  It’s a Saturday.  We could be the background band for the fire twirlers, jugglers, etc.  Or we could be the headliners.  One practice sometime the week before and we’re good.  I’m in, who else?    Dean

Worcester Roller Derby (WoRD) is looking for local talent to recruit for our half time entertainment during our July 12th bout.

The theme of our bout will be "Keeping Worcester Weird"

We are looking for circus type of acts such as;
stilt walkers
fire twirrlers
hula hoopers
weird clown jugglers
alternative marching band people
punk rock cheerleaders
etc etc etc

We would definitely be weird! I am in just need to check on some scheduling. I think we would need a strong group to pull this off...should we say a minimum of 5-6 people?

Who did we have at the soccer game – you, Josh, Mitchell and me?  Am I forgetting anyone (Scott, Otto)?  Couple of drums, tuba, and some other musical souls reading this email.

I got pretty good at the trombone this past year but unfortunately im going to be in Georgia all summer so I can't make it. However I did get elected VP of the Framingham State Symphonic Band. We welcome community members bc we are currently lacking lots of parts. The brass section currently consists of me on trombone and a french horn player who isnt a student or alumni but the director of the waltham american legion.

Hi everyone,

Also, another performance opportunity coming up - Worcester World Cup wants us to play (again) at their event in August!  I believe its the 8th, 9th, and 10th.  I think they should be getting in touch with me or with someone else (possibly Scott? Amanda?) with more details soon!  Just wanted to send out a heads-up.

Looks like we might want to plan a rehearsal sometime soon....

At the World Cup last year we were allowed to play only during the 5 minute halftime and during the 5 minutes between games.  We played one song.  Let's find out how much and when we can play this year before we commit.

Did anybody get an email back from roller derbeyers?  I was talking to someone about it on a Facebook thread

Josh – I got this from Emily Denton through Facebook.  I’m not getting the gmail email that she’s talking about.

Hi Dean! This is EmMalicious with Worcester Roller Derby. Jonathon actually messaged me on the WAG FB page, about your marching band joining forces for our July 12th bout. I actually emailed the Worcester Ice Cream Social gmail address. Would you mind checking that out and getting back to me? If its easier to Facebook, I can do that too, just let me know.

Thanks,

Em
