Hey socialites  --   These are prety good recordings.    I think we can use them for the radio spot idea.     I will bring edited versions to my next rehearsal, but I bet that your radio friend could use them as is.    Thanks to the recordists.

Speaking of which, please recall that I will miss rehearsal on July 30, and again on August 13.

Lastly, how do we like Jethro Tull?   By chance I heard their tune "Teacher,"  which is on their second album, from about 1975.    Putting aside the lyrics, which I fail to make any sense of, the tune is a bit like Seven Nation Army.    It has a repeating funky bass line, with a melody which wanders a bit.
Anyway, I could listen carefully to it, and write out parts for our band, but I dont want to waste my time, so if anybody has an a priori objection to the whole idea, please speak up.

See you again on August 6, an ominous date.

If you’re going to go with Tull I’d choose something peppier than Teacher, like Locomotion Breath.  The Teacher verse drags and repeats without varying where the six lines of Locomotion Breath’s verse are all different and stuffed with little contra-melody riffs.

I heard something yesterday which got me thinking of the band.  “The End” from the Beatles’ Abbey Road.  Here’s the youTube link (Charlie – I’ll send you an MP3 separately):

After a brief intro there’s a drum solo – always big with the Ice Cream gang.  Then there are six bars of everyone together, then a bunch of two bar solos.  We could go in a circle, maybe multiple times, doing two bars each.
