Just got this from Emily with the Worcester Roller Derby. Take a look -- there are a few different times we can play. July 12 is a Saturday. We can probably get in some 30 second tunes during time-outs -- we'll have to check. But the roller derby is a riot anyway so it will be a fun afternoon.
I'll throw out an idea here and we can discuss: we practice on the two Tuesdays or Wednesdays before (July 4th is the Friday of the week before so Thursday is probably no good). Are people available? Is the Shop available? Are we ready to make some noise???

Hi Dean,
We would LOVE to have the Ice Cream Social band come play on July 12th! The schedule for the evening usually runs something like this -
3pm - vendors and volunteers arrive
4pm - doors open to public
5pm- first game starts
6:30pm - intermission between games
We were thinking that it might be a good idea to ask you to play at doors open (4pm - 4:30 or so), in the parking lot, while people are arriving. We thought this would grab the attention of people driving by and be a fun, engaging thing for people to focus on, while we continue to set up and stuff inside.
Then we thought if you wanted to play a few songs at our intermission, that would be great. Skaters will be warming up on the track, so you would be standing on the sidelines (plenty of room).
I REALLY liked your suggestion of sort of making noises while we were playing, but our Board has agreed that it would be too distracting and it would make it hard to hear our refs when they are calling out penalties or whatnot.
We will have a beard competition with the Boston Beard Bureau at our first half time (approx 5:40pm), So maybe you could colaborate with them on making some fun noises during voting or something.
We would love to have you say "yes" that you will be our guest! If so, please forward a picture of the Ice Cream Social band and we can include it on or flier. We would also like you to send a short write up of how you would like our MC to introduce you and what you would like to be said about your band.
You are welcome to set up an information/vendor table if needed (its bring your own table style), just let me know.
We can work on details in the near future. I can send you a more specific timeline and details on our event. The picture would be appreciated ASAP though, as we are about to complete our flier and start advertising.
Any questions?
regards,
Em

Emily – Yes, I’m working with the Ice Cream Social band to play July 12. The band broke up last fall but there seems to be some good interest in getting together again now. I think we’ll rehearse a few times next month and be ready for your event. Did you have any ideas what you’d like from us? We can do a few songs at halftime or we could be the background band if you recruited fire eaters or whatever else you may have. We can also make music or noise during the skate. Let me know what you’re thinking. Dean
