We’ve been invited to Honk!  Can we put something together for the weekend of Oct 12&13?

 

Rollcall:

 

I’ll be there whether we’re playing or not.  Dean in.

Charlie -- Saturday, Sunday, both?

Mitchell -- Are you in town that weekend?  No touring?

Callista --  Ready to Honk again?

Lisa – have you joined another band yet?  If not, can you do an encore with your Ice Cream friends?

Jarin – be honest – will you be ready to perform in a month?

Nick – can we pry you out of retirement for Honk?

Josh, Scott & Otto – drums needed!  Who’s in?

Amanda – guest appearance?

Jenipur – saw on Saturday, tambourine or something for Sunday’s parade?

Jon’s left town, right?  Hey Jon!  Come back and play Honk!

Stephanie – are you back?  Want to play iron cowbell?  How about sewing some purple sashes?  We have the cloth somewhere.

 

Saturday is (stationary) street corner performances and Sunday is a parade.  Can we get some recruits to carry the banner for the parade?  Birds are welcome, too.  Annie – there was at least one roller derby team in the parade last year – your team can join us – what the hell.  Anyone own a fire truck?

 

I might be able to get a few one-time-only people from my band in Wayland.  I know some of them attended Honk as spectators in the past – they might jump at the chance to play with us.

 

If we can make a big appearance at Honk and let people know there’s a Worcester Honk band we could pick up some people. 

 

We need to respond very soon to the Honk committee if we’re going to play.  Commit now and we can make plans to rock Honk!

Festival! – Columbus Day weekend, October 11-13, 2013. We are so excited to bring you to our town, to help us transform it with the sounds of brass and drums and booty-shaking, to reclaim the streets for horns, bikes, and feet, and to celebrate our movement’s march toward a more loving, just and sustainable world. The HONK! Festival brings together activist street bands from around the United States and beyond, and is hosted by our hometown community in Somerville and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Together, we transform Davis Square and other locations into a spontaneous spectacle of peoples’ music and dance, each band providing a “portable soundtrack for a temporary utopia,” to borrow a term from Brooklyn’s Hungry March Band.
