Hello!

I always enjoy a new challenge, and today's new pictures illustrate that. They both are a little different than my usual offerings.

The first, "Dogbane Leaf Beetle", was an experiment in capturing shiny texture. (If you don't like bugs you can either focus on the brilliant colors, or take comfort in the fact that this beetle only lives in the eastern US and Canada--not around here.)

The second picture, "Coming Home", was one of several loose sketches I did in charcoal as part of the process of designing a new painting (coming soon).

I've also been gathering subject ideas for my planned series of paintings centered on the Curry Preserve land. I hope to have some finished soon to show you.

I'm happy to announce that prints of several of my paintings will be on display at Whidbey Island Bank (York Street branch) during the month of August. Details are on my web site. I'll be getting the prints made at ImageKind.com, the online printer where you can order posters, prints and cards of many of my paintings. The quality of their work and the materials they use (paper, mats, frames) are excellent. Their prices are also competitive. You can stop by the Bank in August and to see what the prints look like first hand.

By the way, some people find all the options on the ImageKind web site a little confusing, so help is on the way. I'll be set up with an online computer at future Studio Tours and can help you order prints and cards on the spot. You'll receive them in the mail about a week later.

Enjoy! And thank you for your interest.
