More than 25 artists and craftspeople at 19 locations around Lummi
Island will be showing their paintings, drawings, prints, pottery,
jewelry, photography, notecards, fiber, stonework, herbal products,
metalwork, glass, sculpture, furniture, books, notecards and more!
I'll
have original acrylic, soft pastel and oil paintings available on display,
including my new "Small Wonders" series. I also have some prints on hand, and will have a computer online to help you order any prints and cards you'd like that I don't have in stock.
The Studio Tour is Saturday and Sunday May 23-24 from 10am to 6pm each day.
To get to Lummi Island, take Exit 260 off I-5. Go west on Slater Road to Haxton Way. There's a stoplight at the intersection, a gas station on the corner, and the Silver Reef Casino is near the corner. Turn left (south) onto Haxton until you see the ferry lane on the right side of the road at Gooseberry Point. The ferry leaves at 10 minutes after each hour, sometimes adding extra trip as needed. Cost is $10 for car and driver, $4 per person, and $4 for bicycle and rider. Fares are charged only for the trip to the Island. There is no charge for the return trip. Be sure to watch the ferry crewmembers--they'll show you exactly what you need to do to get on and off the ferry.
When you get to the Island, you can stop at the Islander grocery store (just to the left across the street as you get off the ferry) and pick up the Studio Tour map. All open studios are clearly marked on the map along with a brief statement about what's being shown at each location. If you'd rather get a map ahead of time, you can get one online.
The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, and the flowers on the island are fragrant and colorful right now. It should be a nice time to roll down the windows and enjoy a leisurely drive rom studio to studio. Hope to see you soon!
