Hello Women of Faith and Friends,

Thank you to so many who made our sewing bees a great success!  Lots of veterans and many newbies!  How nice to finally be back together again albeit for a tender cause.  We’ll be at in again in a few months – which will be soon enough that we won’t forget that we need to have some gowns past the serging stage so the regulars can have something to do right at the beginning.  Sorry, Thursday night folks, for making you wait .   (See our FB page for more pics.)

Here’s our current-most-wanted-list 😊.  If you can help with any of these things, let me know.

To finish up our gifts for the Children’s Hospital:

1)     Need help to sew snaps on eight more baby gowns.

2)     Need volunteers to crochet 34” blankets (pink, blue, or white). Or sew around flannel blankets that will be provided.

For Refugees:

3)     Looking for two refrigerators. Both needed immediately.  Each needs to fit inside the following space openings of:    36” x 70” and 36” x 71”

4)     Looking for a wheeled walker for a crippled 3-year-old boy who wants to walk and can only do so with something to hold on to and push.  We will also look for other resources for help.  If you know any, please let me know.

5)     Finally!  After being stuffed to the max with furniture, we’ve been cleared out in about 2 ½ weeks with our first six families.  Needing good quality and clean sofas, end tables, coffee tables, chests of drawers, bedside tables, kitchen tables/chairs, TV tables, smart TVs.

6)     We don’t need this often, but we are needing a king size mattress (clean and with no stains).

7)     If you would like to take a look at our current-most-needed list for refugees, let me know. If you’re part of a group that has been looking for a way they can contribute to the warm welcome of refugees now arriving from the camps, and you think you might like to organize a drive for them, let me know.

8)     Looking for someone to check out and service sewing machines that we’d like to give to four or five Afghan moms.  They have each requested a machine.  Sewing will allow them to sew for their family and perhaps even make a little money.  We have the machines and a sewing kit to go along with them.  We just want to know they’re in good order before we gift them.

Thanks, as always!

Jean
