Dear Women of Faith,

I received an email from the County of Riverside Emergency Management Department yesterday afternoon. They have asked me to reach out to see if anyone in our group might know someone who would be willing to sponsor or at least to provide mid or long-term shelter for the young man described below.  Please take five minutes to ponder and see if someone comes to mind. Please make a contact if you think of someone and have any interested individuals (or anyone with questions) contact me as soon as possible.

Many thanks,

Jean Arnott

Here is the info I received:

We’re seeking assistance with finding a sponsor or mid or long-term sheltering for a young man who is currently being sheltered with Salvation Army.  He arrived on 7/17 and is without a sponsor.  There is a language barrier and through translation efforts  the following information has been gathered; The young man has no family in the U.S. and does not have a cell phone.

  • Name: withheld
  • Age: 24
  • Status: Asylum seeker from Eritrea- Africa
  • Language: Tigrinya
  • Salvation Army has reached out to multiple shelters and organizations and has found that they are at capacity and not able to take in this young man.

Do any partners know of any special benefits available in the County to support Eritrea migrants?
