Calling upon Women of Faith and friends who have sewn baby gowns in the past for LLUCH’s Total Care Birth Center’s Bereavement program and/or are good at hand sewing on snaps.

We haven’t had a sewing bee in quite some time (and it doesn’t look like we’ll be able to for a while yet), and there is currently a critical need for the tiniest gowns in particular. Fortunately, I recently found a bag of gowns that include the smallest sizes.  They are complete except for the snaps and the little heart embroidered on the front.

If you are good at sewing on snaps and would like to take a bag of 3 or 4 gowns and return them as soon as possible with the snaps sewn on, would you let me know?  It would be especially helpful if you’re able to pick them up from my home.

If you have sewn the gowns before at a workday or a sewing bee and you feel confident sewing them at home, we could use your help to get more going.  Especially if you have had experience serging.

It is a busy time of year, and a troubling time, with lots of uncertainty and worries.  Nevertheless, these parents who are experiencing the loss of their babies are in their own sorrowing world and need our love and support. If you are able to help, let me know.

And if you know of someone local who might be willing to embroider tiny hearts onto the gowns, please let me know.  Sue, who has added this final touch to hundreds and hundreds of these gowns has still been doing it though she now lives in another state.  Time is of the essence right now and finding someone closer would help – at least in the short term.

Feeling grateful for my many blessings – including each of you!

Jean
