Dear Women of Faith and Friends,

A family is arriving at LAX at 1p.m. today!  They have NO place to go - meaning no US Tie that can take them in temporarily and so they need to go to a motel until housing can be found.  All of that is not uncommon.

The uncommon part is that probably because of the holidays, extended-stay hotels are booked up and the resettlement agency can't find a room anywhere.

Please, if you know of an extended-stay hotel in your area (meaning there is a kitchen so that they can at least cook for themselves), can you make a call and see if there is a vacancy?

  • This is a family of six.  Four adults and two very young children.
  • Needing two rooms.
  • Need extended-stay meaning it has kitchen facilities and that it's basically open-ended as far as length of stay.
  • International Rescue Committee (IRC) will be signing the contract and funding it.
  • Looking for a safe area, of course.
  • First choice would be in or near Rancho Cucamonga because they have family or friends there.  If that is not possible, anywhere will have to be okay.   We'll be able to help them with food in the interim.

Please, think for a few minutes🤔, then call the hotel/motel that's in your area and see if there is a vacancy.  If there is, please call me asap so IRC can snap it up before it's gone.

Sorry - I know that some of you would eagerly welcome them into your home and have offered in the past💗. I asked if that was an option here.  At this point, it still is not, unless they would have their own bathroom, kitchen, and entrance.

Praying for some quick responses as always happens with this group - this is just the first request of this kind!

Jean

Update:  A place was found in the nick of time!   Thank you everyone who responded - and so quickly!   There is now a list that covers a fairly large area that IRC can use for future families that come.     Til the next urgency comes along...have a lovely evening!

Thanks,
Jean

P.S.  If you're getting new bakeware, pots and pans, or comforters for Christmas, we'd love your older kindly-used ones💗.
