Friends & Members of WomenNC -
Hoping this finds you looking forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends!
We’re
pleased to announce WomenNC has awarded five extremely
qualified North Carolina university women from a very
competitive pool of 13 applicants. In the three years WomenNC
has sent CSW delegates, this group of applicants was by far the
most diverse in background and majors, proven academic success
and abundant enthusiasm.
The
students have selected their North Carolina research projects
based on the United Nations 56th CSW Theme, the “Empowerment
of Rural Women and their role in poverty and hunger
eradication, development and current challenges”. They
will share their findings and recommendations on February
16, 2012 at the NCSU Faculty Club (mark your calendars),
after which they travel to present at the 2012 United Nations 56th
Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Conference, interacting
in sessions the week of February 25 – March 2, in New York City.
The long term effects on empowering these women to become
involved leaders in their community, share best practices in the
international arena, and elevate research on important regional
N.C. issues is extremely significant.
WomenNC would like to personally invite you to an International
Tea-Tasting Open House on Tuesday, December 6th,
2011
at the home of one of our dedicated board members, in Cary. We
will be joined by special guests including the Honorable Elaine Marshall, Lindy
Brown and
several of the 2012 WomenNC CSW Student Fellows.
Attached, please find the invitation and directions to this event. RSVP’s are due Thursday, December 1st either via PayPal online or the mail-in form, both can be found at http://www.womennc.org/csw/ . Please direct any inquiries to Beth Dehghan (beth.d...@womennc.org, 919-744-4778) or Sue Ellen Rosen (sueelle...@womennc.org).
