to Women Learning Code
Hi Ladies!

First off - thanks to Natasha for kicking this off. Woot to you!

My name is Bridget Thornton

I live in Sonoma County, CA (About an hour north of SF)

I'm learning to code because I'm the founder of a tech startup and
need to have better insight into RoR, Java, etc to hire the best
talent. I also want to be in the "trenches" to code the functionality
of the software we're building.

I know HTML, a bit of PHP, a little SQL. I used a CMS to build our
current site but most of my PHP was learned through Google'ing what I
needed and I must say, its not that tough to find the answers but I
need a deeper understanding. I've in startups since 1995 and I LOVE
it. I've had some really bad experiences trying to talk to programmers
who have been demeaning and tried to speak above my head. I felt liek
that proverbial helpless woman trying to talk to a car mechanic.
Anyway, I learned along the way just enough to speak their "language"
but as the founder of my company, I could do better.

What inspires me: I love learning and I love a challenge. Right now
we're a team of 2 and while I have a decent background in tech, I
could be way better and we probably could have avoided some backsteps
had I known to code. My love is UX/UI so I hope to learn how to marry
the front to the back end.

As I mentioned, I'm the founder of a tech start up, TrackIgnite and
we're at a very early private beta stage. My tech co-founder could
really use my help so that's why I'm here.

I'm on day 2 and about to start the first assignment.
