Great resources (free stanford class) and am also looking forward to
learning how to code. Always been very interested and can't wait to
start.

A few resources that I've come across that I've found useful:-

http://www.joelonsoftware.com/ - a blog about being a software
developer
http://greenteapress.com/ - free computer books

Thanks for sharing these! If anyone else has any good resources, let us know. I personally read the following sites to get the latest tech news:

I love all these resources and follow them avidly. A couple more to
add:

http://stackoverflow.com >> It can get really intense but follow the
tags and type in anything and you'll get an answer. Highly
recommended.
https://github.com/explore >> You can use that to find pieces of code
to plug-in. Its a perfect example of "not re-inventing the wheel".

I'd also love to connect with experienced women coders who are
interested in becoming mentors. Do any of you know of a group like
this?

Hey Bridget,

There is a new meetup here in San Francisco, called Women Who Code, which is becoming really popular and is amazing. If you ever want to come to one of the meetups, you're welcome to crash at my place overnight if you need to (since it's a bit of a drive for you). I went to the Lightning Talks last week, where women coders got up and talked about whatever they wanted to share for 5 minutes, and it was an incredible experience. Sasha, the organizer of it, is really amazing too.

I've heard of this group! I also met a great group of women at Oscon last year. I may just take you up on crashing at your place :) Looks like upcoming meetings are spinoff groups but I've always been interested in learning RoR so I may check those out.

Thanks!
