International Day of Justice Celebration
Mayor Halloran has proclaimed July 17th, "International Day of
Justice " in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the Rome Statute
for the International Criminal Court. Amnesty International, the UNA-
USA (Iowa Division, Linn County chapter), and Kirkwood Student
Alliance, and Kirkwood Community College are co-sponsoring a program
at 7 pm, July 17th featuring Matthew Heaphy, the Deputy Convener for
AMICC, which is the American Non-governmental Organizations for the
International Criminal Court. There will also be a short video about
the ICC as well as a few interviews of and by KCC international
students about war crimes in their native countries. Cake will be
served in honor of the 10th anniversary. The program is in the West
Dining Room of Iowa Hall at Kirkwood. Park in the south lot, and
enter Iowa Hall.

Local Activities Against Possible Military Action in Iran

WFPI will be circulating a petition called "NO WAR ON IRAN!"
*Please join us as we attempt to raise awareness of
impending US aggression.

Monday, July 21

We will meet outside Congressman Dave Loebsack's Westdale
Mall office
with our petitions.

*We encourage you to write and call your legislators. Now is a
critical time to speak out on this issue. Voices calling for real
diplomacy and negotiation MUST be heard. Call and ask Congressman
Loebsack to co-sponsor H.R. 5056 to appoint an envoy to Iran for the
purpose of easing tensions and normalizing relations with Iran.

Saturday Street Corner Vigils
*Don't forget to make Noon-1 pm every Saturday a part of your
weekly routine. Meet at the corner of First Ave and Collins Rd. (in
front of Granite City. ) Signs are available. The incredible growing
support of cars "honking for peace" is very heartening.
