John Schumacher, longtime WFPI member suffered a heart attack and passed away in late October, 2019. He was a great historian of the Peace movement, knew of all the local events, knew many of its people, and he himself was very much involved. John kept us from taking ourselves too seriously, always full of good humor, stories, and jokes. Join us in remembering him, as we feel the loss, and celebrate what he has brought into our lives.

• John's Goodbye Birthday Bash
  will be held on Black Friday, November 29th
  4 to 6 pm
  at the Artist Sanctuary across from the Marion Square Park
  Plans include: Tie-dye, 60's music, Tibetan prayer flags, a photo board (you may bring a contribution), and a silent auction of some of John's possessions to help defray funeral expenses. Contact Steve Hanken for more details.
  
• Potluck and Movie Night
  Normally the 3rd Friday of the month

  Potluck at 7pm, 8pm movie
  We are looking for a new venue and projection system for this popular event, and are open to any suggestions people might offer. Please contact us with any thoughts you might have.

• Mall Walking for Peace
  Sunday, November 17th
  Starting at 2:00 pm, and we walk for about 45 minutes.
  Lindale Mall, 4444 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids
  We gather at center of the Food Court
  If you have our latest matching T-shirt that says, "If war is the answer, we're asking the wrong question", please wear it, but come to walk with any peace/anti-war shirt you have.
  
• Alternative Discussion Group
  Tuesday, November 19th
  7:00 to 9:00 pm
  We meet at the dining room at the Hy-Vee on 32nd
  at the intersection of 32nd Street NE & Oakland Road NE in Cedar Rapids
  Our current book is Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut, discussing chapters 5 and 6 on the 19th.
  
• WFPI General Membership Meeting
  Tuesday, November 26th
  7:00 to 9:00 pm
  Mount Mercy University
  Mercy Drive NE, Cedar Rapids
  The venue for these meetings is Campus Ministry lounge space in the Busse Building
      Enter opposite the doors for the library side of the building.
  Charlotte Martin will give an informal presentation, Eavesdropping on Conservative Podcasts: Observations and Thoughts.
