The International Doctorate Program „Measuring and Modelling Mountain Glaciers and ice caps in a Changing Climate” (IDP M³OCCA) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is accepting applications for 9 positions for doctoral candidates (m/f/d).
The IDP comprises sub-projects focusing on development of instruments, sensors and methods. Remote sensing and modelling are key components. Four sub-projects specifically focus on machine learning applications in glaciology: SP1.3, SP2.1, SP3.1 & SP3.2.
The IDP is composed of an interdisciplinary team from the fields of geography, geosciences, geophysics, mathematics, computer science and electrical engineering.
IDP M³OCCA is a collaboration between FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Technical University Munich, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities as well as the German Aerospace Center in Oberpfaffenhofen.
The positions will run for 4 years with a fixed starting date by 1 June 2026. Screening of applications starts 7 December 2025, positions are open until filled.
