Dear WiML community,

LASR Labs is a 13-week, full-time, paid research programme based in London. Participants are matched into teams of 3-4 and work with an experienced supervisor to write and submit an academic-style paper in technical AI safety. The programme is designed for people who are ready to move from learning about AI safety to actively contributing to it.

Here's what to know:

• Stipend: £11,000 for the full programme
• Dates: 20 July – 16 October 2026
• Location: LISA office, London (alongside Apollo Research, Bluedot Impact, ARENA, etc.)
• Application deadline: 30 March 2026

90% of our alumni go on to work in AI safety, including at UK AISI, Apollo Research, and OpenAI's dangerous capabilities evaluations team. Our Spring 2025 cohort achieved a 50% acceptance rate to NeurIPS, with one paper selected for an oral presentation.

We're looking for candidates with strong technical ability—typically those with experience in ML, software engineering, or a relevant PhD (CS, Physics, Maths). We're also committed to building a cohort with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, and we actively encourage applications from people who might otherwise count themselves out too early.
