We are excited to invite your contributions to the Bodily Expressed Emotion Understanding (BEEU) Workshop, to be held in Singapore on January 26, 2026, co-located with the 40th Annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). For detailed information and submission links, check our website: https://beeu-aaai.github.io/workshop/.
Our workshop will focus on predicting emotions and emotion-related behavior, with a focus on bodily expression, while research on related tasks and applications (e.g., activity recognition, generation of socially intelligent behavior, embodied intelligence, human-centered AI, etc.) will also be strongly encouraged to be shared. We welcome paper submissions (both short and long) on related topics. This can include published, accepted, or in-progress works. We will particularly encourage representation of students or early-career researchers in the field. Given your research expertise in related fields, we look forward to your (or your group's) potential contributions. We would also be grateful if you could share the announcement with people/students who may be interested!
We are also hosting a challenge, based on our new bodily expressed emotions dataset, with four different tracks. The standard tracks include multi-label emotion prediction, emotion explanation generation, and Valence, Arousal Dominance regression. We also have an open-ended creative usage track, which encourages submissions in any desired format, of any unconventional use of our emotion dataset! For more information on the challenge, check here:
https://beeu-aaai.github.io/workshop/challenge.
The submission deadline for papers is November 5, 2025, while the challenge leaderboard will remain open for updating results until December 31, 2025. We are also in the process of planning an exciting lineup of invited speakers, panels, and will have awards for each challenge and paper presentation track.
We hope you will consider submitting related works to the workshop and participating in fostering rich, interdisciplinary discussions.
Thank you,
(The BEEU 2026 Organizing Committee)
