What You Will Do
Come join the brightest minds at the most innovative R&D facility supporting our national security! The Computer, Computational, and Statistical Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral research associate position for research in stochastic operators for uncertainty quantification of multi-physics models. The position is available immediately. Strong candidates will be considered for a joint appointment with the prestigious Center for Nonlinear Studies (CNLS) and/or laboratory fellowships.
As a postdoc, you will work with a small team of Ph.D. staff scientists as part of a multi-disciplinary research project focused on building a new class of models that describe propagation of uncertainty in coupled multi-physics models. You will design data-driven operators, such as the Perron Frobenius and Koopman operators, for uncertainty quantification (UQ) of highly non-linear and coupled dynamical systems. You should have a strong publication record, open mind to explore boundaries of scientific fields, and ability to effectively communicate with researchers having varied backgrounds. As a postdoctoral research associate, you would be expected to publish results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at well-known conferences. The position is for two years, with a third year possible contingent on excellent performance.
