Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computer Vision to Work at the “Science Center for Development in Digital Agriculture”

This position aims to enhance agricultural production and productivity more sustainably through digital technologies.

Activities include:

• Semantic and Panoptic Segmentation: Image segmentation in an agricultural context (plants, fruits, disease symptoms, etc.);

• Fundamental Models in Computer Vision: Use of pre-trained models for detection and segmentation tasks in agriculture, including grounding and fine-tuning;

• Databases: Production, organization, and annotation of public databases to enable research in semantic and panoptic segmentation in agriculture.

Requirements:

The fellow must have obtained a Ph.D. within the last 7 (seven) years, either in Brazil or abroad, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Mathematics, or related fields.

Desired Qualifications:

1. 1. Good oral and written communication skills;

2. 2. Previous experience in deep learning systems for computer vision (object detection, tracking, and/or segmentation);

3. 3. Knowledge of Python programming language;

4. 4. Previous experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX);

22. 22. Ability to read, interpret, and write in English.

Preferred but not Mandatory:

1. 1. Previous experience in panoptic segmentation;

3. 3. Previous experience in multimodal systems.

The position is open to both Brazilian and international candidates. The selected fellow will receive a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship of R$ 12,000.00 per month (~ US$ 2,160/month) and a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual scholarship amount to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to research activities. The duration of the fellowship is 12 months, extendable for an additional 12 months (totaling 2 years).
