Hi Everyone,

On behalf of the co-organisers, we would like to invite you to submit your work to our RSS workshop on “Trustworthy Embodied Foundation Models: Safety by Design versus Safety by Practice”.

The details of the workshop and submission instructions are as follows:

Trustworthy Embodied Foundation Models: Safety by Design versus Safety by Practice

RSS 2026

July 17, 2026

https://robot-fm-safety.github.io/

We invite submissions on methods, evaluations, systems, and perspectives that advance trustworthy embodied foundation models for robotics, spanning both safety by design and safety by practice. Contributions may include empirical studies, benchmarks, negative results, formal analyses, deployment lessons, and tooling that improves robustness, evaluation, and accountability of FM-based robotic autonomy. We encourage researchers to submit work in the following areas:

  • Continual learning for enhanced failure detection and recovery

  • Lessons from red-teaming and jailbreaking of VLA models

  • Robust training regimens using real or simulated data such as adversarial training, domain randomization, etc.

  • Benchmarking for embodied safety evaluation

  • Runtime assurance: monitoring, uncertainty/OOD detection, shielding, and safe fallback policies

  • Formal methods and guarantees

  • Human-in-the-loop systems for intervention, recovery, and incorporating failure feedback through intuitive interfaces

  • Standardization for safety deployments in real-world and industrial applications

  • Explainability for building trust in human–robot collaborations

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Paper Length: We welcome short paper contributions of up to 4 pages, not including the bibliography or supplemental appendices.

  • Format:

    • All manuscripts must be submitted as a PDF following the official RSS 2026 conference template.

    • Please ensure that all citations and supplementary appendices are contained within the primary PDF file.

    • Additional results or media, such as videos, can be included as a single zipped supplemental package.

  • Forward-Thinking Submissions:

    • In line with RSS 2026 workshop guidance, we emphasize forward-thinking discussions over presentation of previously published results.

    • Duplicate presentations of papers already accepted at the main RSS 2026 conference or a prior conference are discouraged.

  • Visibility: To maintain confidentiality, reviews and submissions remain private; only the final accepted papers will be published.

Please submit your papers via the following link: submission website

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Submission deadline: June 15, 2026 at 11:59PM (AOE)

  • Accept/Reject Notification: June 25, 2026

  • Camera-ready (final) paper deadline: June 30, 2026 at 11:59PM (Anywhere on earth)

  • Workshop: July, 17, 2026
