Hi All,

I'm happy to share that the 5th ACM Conference on Equity and Access in Algorithms, Mechanisms, and Optimization (EAAMO'25) will be held November 5–7, 2025 in Pittsburgh, this year.

EAAMO brings together researchers working to advance equity and access in socio-technical systems. This year's program features an outstanding lineup of speakers, panels, and events that I believe will be of interest to many of you.

A leading researcher on fairness and inclusion in AI, and a founding member of the Deep Learning Indaba, Nyalleng emphasizes how local knowledge can transform technology in low-resource settings.

 

Catherine D’Ignazio (MIT, USA)

Director of the Data + Feminism Lab and co-author of Data Feminism, Catherine’s work combines scholarship, design, and activism to reimagine data and AI for gender and racial justice.

Principles and Performance Metrics Makerspace

In this two-day session, participants will work through real scenarios, from procuring public sector AI systems to assessing health and social outcomes. Breakout groups will compare how different fields define and use metrics, then bring those insights together into shared frameworks.
