Dear Members of the Women in Machine Learning Community,
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to a Special Session on Humanitarian AI with Earth Observation, organized within the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) 2026, to be held 9–14 August 2026 in Washington, DC, USA.
Special Session Title
CCT.80 – Humanitarian AI with Earth Observation: Actionable Mapping for Time-Critical Operations
Overview
As humanitarian crises become increasingly complex and interconnected, the need for rapid, reliable situational awareness has never been greater. Humanitarian responders increasingly rely on Earth Observation data combined with artificial intelligence and machine learning to monitor conflict, health emergencies, and natural disasters, and to support timely, informed decision-making.
This special session invites research contributions that focus on humanitarian operations and disaster response through methods that integrate Earth Observation and AI. The session emphasizes actionable mapping and analysis for time-critical operations, highlighting approaches that can deliver reliable insights under real-world constraints and support effective humanitarian action.
We warmly encourage members of the Women in Machine Learning community to consider submitting abstracts and to share this call with colleagues and collaborators who may be interested.
Please find the session flyer attached for your reference.
