Dear all,

We wanted to call to your attention that this year’s Cognitive Computational Neuroscience (CCN) meeting will be held at University of Oxford on August 24-27, 2023. CCN is a forum for discussion among cognitive science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence researchers dedicated to understanding the computations that underlie complex behavior. We’re excited about this year’s meeting and the chance it offers to bring together the CCN community within the UK and Europe.

The main options for participation are 2-page paper submissions, Generative Adversarial Collaborations, Keynote+Tutorials, and the Algonauts Project (described below in more detail). Submissions for Abstracts, GACs, and Keynote+Tutorials will be due on March 31, and Algonauts entries are due 26 July 2023.

Our currently confirmed speakers include Stan Dehaene, Leslie Kaebling, Cate Hartley, Helen Barron, Jay McClelland, and Tim Kietzmann. In addition to submitted proposals, we will be hosting interactive events such as Mind-Matching, Keynotes with Fireside Chats, and a unique evening riverside social event.

Please note that the first 100 registrations (received before 31st March) receive a £100 discount on the registration fee. You do not have to wait until abstract submission in order to receive this discount, so please register early at 2023.ccneuro.org.

Detailed Information

Paper submissions (deadline 31 March 2023) offer an opportunity to highlight recent or in-progress research in topics of cognitive science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. Papers are up to 2 pages and archival, and we provide a constructive review process involving many reviewers so that all submissions receive rich feedback on their work. The majority of abstracts that are within the scope of CCN will be accepted for poster presentation, with the most highly rated submission garnering oral presentations. For further details, see the Author Kit https://2023.ccneuro.org/papers.php.

Generative Adversarial Collaborations (GAC)s (deadline 31 March 2023). The goal of GACs is to identify, debate, and make concrete plans to address the most challenging, controversial, and exciting debates in our field. Applications consist of a list of core contributors and a 2-3 page proposal describing a scientific question and the surrounding controversy. Accepted GACs will host a kickoff workshop at CCN, write a position paper for a special issue of NBDT, and present progress at the following CCN annual meeting. For further details of the format, and to submit your GAC, visit https://gac.ccneuro.org/.

Keynotes with Tutorials (K+Ts) (deadline 31 March 2023) give a unique opportunity to deliver a keynote on your lab’s work, backed up by an extended hands-on tutorial (typically led by your labs postdocs/graduate students) to give a chance to work with the code, data and models behind your talk. For further details of the format and to submit your K+T proposal, visit https://20232.ccneuro.org/keynotes_tutorials.php

Algonauts (deadline 26 July 2023). The Algonauts Project is on a mission to bring biological and machine intelligence researchers together on a common platform to exchange ideas and pioneer the intelligence frontier. The Algonauts 2023 Challenge focuses on predicting responses in the human brain as participants perceive complex natural visual scenes. Through collaboration with the Natural Scenes Dataset (NSD) team, the Challenge runs on the largest suitable brain dataset available, opening new venues for data-hungry modeling. Winning entries will be presented at CCN 2023. To explore the challenge, visit http://algonauts.csail.mit.edu/
