Good afternoon dear class.
First of all I want to congratulate you all on holiday. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now about the story.
This story is a little bit confusing. It's clear that it has philosophical and religious sides. The thing that connect it with religion, I think , is it's resemblance with the story of "creation" in religious books as Quran and Bible. Why I think so?- because the events take place in some garden and house, where all the animals and people live together. When I say people I mean Adam and Havva. Also in the story mentioned "father" ,I think it refers to God. This story is the same as in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
The character who unnames all the animals is Hevva. She is given like an angel who gets along with all creatures- animals, fish, birds and so on. The story shows a new perspective which we don't see in the religion books .in U. Le. Guin's story we see male/female relations. Adam never paid much attention to her and said only "put it down over there, ok? And went on with what he was doing". "One of my reasons for doing what I did was that talk was getting us nowhere; but all the same I felt a little let down". She is bored, and needs attention and understanding. She did it hoping that some day Adam would notice the changes and might be upset and want to talk; maybe he'll miss her.
