to Women and Literature
Hi my friends
I consider the author -Gwendolyn Brooks to be genius because of
writing such a poem.As we know she herself hadn't have an abortion
but she could easily read self-hatred feelings and pains of the
women who had aborted and in this poem she gives us general
descriptions of all mothers using one character -mother.Brooks message
is that although a woman is forced to abortion in accordance with
requirements she has a long-lasting heartache for her aborted
children. To prove it would be okay to draw attention over some
sentences in the poem.
Abortions will not let you forget
It means that to loose your child will forever remain in your
mind .
In other lines like;
The damp small pulps with a little or with no hear,
Your stited or lovely loves, your tumults, your marriages, aches, and
your death,
If I poisoned the beginnings of your breaths,
Believe that even in my deliberateness I was not deliberate.
We see that mother acknowledges her to be guilty for children's future
life-their loves , marriages and deathes. Though they are dead she
still loves them
