to Women and Literature
This poem gives the reader pessimistic impressions. This
sentence is stinking and good topic for thinking. I sit and sew- my
heart aches with desire-" I find this sentence very interesting. She
calls sewing as a useless job and even having desires she sews. As a
woman she feels herself very weak because she can't join to the army.
But in other ways she can help to soldiers. For instance sewing,
preparing clothers to them, the narrator claims that her work is
useless, but she is able to do more useful things to the society. She
wishes to go to the war and fighting against the enemy with men.
There is not any useless work. Women almost do all works very
professionally.
