Robert,

Do you have any thoughts about the lineage of Peter Womack, wife
Priscilla of Lincoln Co., TN in 1850? The census indicates he was
born 1793 SC.

Peter's son, Thomas Newton 1835-1916 Giles Co., TN m. Elizabeth J.
Sandlin. Peter's dau., Susannah married Nicholas Sandlin. The
Sandlins were the children of Jane Clark, 1804 SC-1884 Lincoln Co.,
TN, and John Sandlin 1803 York Co., SC-1868 Lincoln Co., TN.

The only Womack families I see in SC in 1800 were in Pendleton Dist.

Just a little SC trivia:

Apparently SC has never been a favorite hangout for Womacks!!!

There are some Warnocks that arouse my suspicions but havent listed
all of them.

1790 - I think we know who these two are; or, at least some of you
do!!
Jacob Womack Pendleton, SC 1790
Abner Wamock Spartenburgh, SC 1790

1800
William Wamack Pendleton District, SC 1800 males 21--1; females 31-1
Sarah Wammack Pendleton District, SC 1800 males 1-----; females --1
Cloe Wammack Spartanburg District, SC 1800 males

1810 - none unless a John Warnock is one - cant find on image to get
age range.

1820

John Wormack Pendleton,SC 1820 - age 45 up[1775 or earlier]

John Wornick Barnwell District,Barnwell,SC 1820 age 45 up

1830 - John Wormack Barnwell, South Carolina age 40-50 [1780-1790]

1840 - none

1850 - There is a John Warnick, same year of birth as John below.

I think that the census enumerator in 1850 reversed the birth places
of Peter and Priscilla. If you look at the 1860 Census of Lincoln Co,
TN, I belive it says that Peter was born in NC and Priscilla in SC.

From tax lists, censuses, and names of kids, I think Peter was a
brother to Lewis and David H Womack, who were also both born in NC.
By 1850, David had moved to Madison Co, Alabama; both he and Lewis
were listed as shoe makers in 1850. I have no idea who was the father
of Peter, Lewis and David, assuming they were brothers.

The Henry P Womack in Lincoln Co, TN (missed in the 1850 census) was
Henry Pryor Womack, son of John Womack and Lucy Pryor. His first
wife, Frances Cocke, divorced him in Caswell Co, NC (she was in
Madison Co, TN in 1850). His second wife was Temperance LNU.

Elisha H Womack and William Womack in Lincoln Co, NC were sons of
David Womack and Elizabeth Hawkins; they came from Bedford Co, TN,
which was adjacent to Lincoln before Moore Co, TN was formed.

The James Womack who was in Lincoln Co, TN in 1840 was the son of
Brittain Womack of Moore Co, NC. James moved to Wright Co, MO by
1850.

In addition, there were several female Womacks with their husbands in
Lincoln Co, TN at various times.

So, there were several branches of Womacks in Lincoln Co, TN. It is
one of the most complicated places in the US for Womack genealogy.

Correction, Elisha H Womack and William Womack were in Lincoln Co, TN;
not in Lincoln Co, NC.

Too many counties in my head! There were Womacks in the early 1800s
in Lincoln Co, NC; Lincoln Co, TN; Lincoln Co, GA; and Lincoln Co, MO!

Thanks, Robert. I was helping my Rutherford friend whose uncle, James
Leroy Neeley married a Womack. Researchers have her given name as
Elizabeth Womack, but in the census records, James Neeley's wife is
Jennie. She was Jennie Womack, dau., of Thomas Newton Womack and
Elizabeth J. Sandlin. And perhaps Jennie's given name was also
Elizabeth.

I am puzzled!! You say Henry was the son of John and Lucy Pryor/Prior
Womack.
I have them with a son Henry born about 1770. However, he has a wife
named
Matilda West, m. abt 1813..a son named Bedford Womack and an unnamed
daughter.
Am I screwed up er what??

Further puzzled - you say Lewis and David were both shoemakes and in
Madison GA in 1850.
Here is all I could find:

1850 Census Madison Co AL, Distr 34

D H Womack, b. abt 1806, NC, wife DM age 34, b. AL..Shoe maker
1860
D H Wamack South Eastern Division, Madison, AL 54 abt 1806 North
Carolina
Male;
wife Melvina born about 1816, AL. Shoemaker.
1850 Census
Lewis Wamack born about 1806 in GA, wife Agnes - on Beat 1, Blount Co,
AL Census, Farmer
The only other was born in 1849..

I do not find a Lewis in 1860

I do have this also:
LEWIS WOMACK</b>, b. Abt. 1796, Lincoln Co, NC; m. MARGARET BERRY, 21
Nov 1816, Butler Co KY.
Son of Abner and Agnes Nancy Reed Womack..
Puhleeze! straighten me out??
