In one of the Womack Genealogy newsletters (
http://www.womacknet.com/
sources/wgv4n2.html), Mrs. Alma Hill Robertson presented here research
on the Richard Womack (son of Lt Jesse) family. See also my post a
couple days ago on Lt Jesse Womack and Phoebe LNU.
Alma stated that Richard had three sons by his first marriage,
Richard, Jesse, and Abram J. I have seen other references to Abram J
as Abraham James or "Indian Abe".
Richard Jr may have been the eldest. Patricia Harlan contributed

PLan...@aol.com Can anyone identify the Richard Womack who was
divorced in Simpson County, MS
in 1834. His wife was Lucinda. In the Superior Court records it states
she
went to Alabama for a short time and then moved to Smith County, MS.
The records also mentions a child. Who is Richard's father? There are
several
Richard Womack in Simpson County, MS in 1830.
If you look at the 1830 Census of Simpson Co, MS, you will Richard
Womack (Sr) right before David Kennedy, who was married to Richard's
step-daughter, Elizabeth Dent. I know that the Richard Womack next to
David Kennedy is Richard Sr, son of Lt Jesse, because a) he is next to
David Kennedy, and b) Richard Sr is in his 40s, thus born in the
1780s, and that does not fit with any of the David Womack/Mildred
Pryor family in the same area. David Womack (brother of Lt Jesse) and
Mildred Pryor also had a son Richard, but he had died by 1830, and his
widow Martha was in Copiah Co, MS in the 1830 census.
A few pages from Richard Womack (Sr) in the 1830 census of Simpson Co,
MS, there is Francis Warmack, Richard Warmack, and Samuel Stone in a
row. (Also on the same page is Robert Warmack, son of David Womack/
Mildred Pryor.) Francis Womack was Richard's (son of Lt Jesse)
brother. I think the Richard Womack listed right after Francis Womack
was Richard Sr's son, and the one who married Lucinda and then
divorced here in 1834 in Simpson Co, MS. Samuel Stone, right after
Richard Womack (Jr) apparently followed Francis Womack to Smith Co,
MS, where he (Samuel Stone) is listed in the 1840 Census 3 lines after
Francis Womack. In the 1850 Census of Smith Co, MS, Samuel Stone is
listed right after Francis Womack, and Lucinda Womack (35) and
Elizabeth Womack (18) are living in Samuel Stone's household. Francis
Womack had a daughter Lucinda living with him who was 20 in the 1850
census, so the Lucinda Womack living with Samuel Stone was not
Francis' daughter. Rather, I think she was the ex-wife of Richard
Womack Jr, especially since Pat Harlan's research says the court
records state that Lucinda (ex-wife of Richard) moved to Smith Co,
MS. The girl Elizabeth was the child who was mentioned in the divorce
case. No idea how Samuel Stone fits in.
I do not know what became of Richard Womack Jr after he divorced.
Note that I do not think Richard who married Lucinda was Francis' son,
because it does not appear Francis' first marriage was until circa
1812/1813, and the Richard Womack who married Lucinda was in his 20s
in 1830. See this link on Francis Womack:
http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.mississippi.counties.smith/1253/mb.ashx
Note that I have not personally verified the info, so I do not their
proof that Francis' middle name was Marion (though lots of boys were
named Francis Marion after the Rev War hero), or that Francis' first
wife was Malinda Kennedy.
Richard Womack Jr may be the Richard Womack who married Martha J
McNeil on 1 May 1855 in Amite Co, MS (there is a 15 year old Martha J
McNeal living with Daniel McNeal in Amite Co, MS on the 1850 Census),
but if so, they had no children and Richard apparently died by 23 Nov
1859 when Martha J Womack married Thomas Shropshire in Wilkinson Co,
MS (adjacent to Amite), and they are on the 1860 Census of Wilkinson;
Martha is 24.
After the 1830 Census of Simpson Co, MS, Richard Womack (son of Lt
Jesse) moved to Lauderdale Co, MS (formed in 1833). Richard Wormack
"of Lauderdale County" got a land patent there on 5 Jan 1841.
However, 5 Jan 1841 was when the patent process completed. It usually
took a couple years, and Richard was dead by the time the patent was
issued. The patent was in Township 7 N, Range 15 E. On the same day
that Richard's patent was issued, two patents for Jesse Womack were
issued in the same Township/Range. If you plot out where the land
patents were located, Richard's patent was adjacent to one of Jesse's
patents. In the 1840 Census of Lauderdale Co, MS, Jesse Womack is
listed. He was later missed in the 1850 Census, but was in Lauderdale
Co, MS in 1860; then to Kemper Co, MS in 1870 and 1880. Pat Harlan is
a descendant. Maybe there are some more records of Richard Womack in
Lauderdale Co, MS.
Green Walker was also in Lauderdale Co, MS in 1840. I have not seen
the evidence, but I have seen claims his wife was Mary Womack, dau of
Richard Womack and Sarah Walker. It appears that the widow Sarah
Walker Dent Womack and her family was living with Green Walker in
1840. If we break down the 1830 Simpson Co, MS census numbers for
Richard:
176 1 Wammack Richard 1002 001 1110 01 31 12
M 0-4 Mansel
M 15-19 Abram
M 15-19 Jesse
M 40-49 Richard
F 0-4 Vashti
F 5-9 Mary
F 10-14 Phoebe?
F 30-39 Sarah
plus 4 female slaves
In 1840 Lauderdale Co, MS, the household of Green Walker has numbers
10101 - 00111001 - 1 female slave
M 0-4 Richard Walker
M 14-19 Mansel Womack
M 20-29 Green Walker
F 10-14 Vashti Womack
F 15-19 Mary Womack Walker
F 20-29 Phoebe Womack?
F 50-59 Sarah Walker Dent Womack
By 1850, Sarah Walker Dent Womack had moved to Rankin Co, MS and was
in the census between her son Ferdinand Dent and her son-in-law Green
Walker.
Abram Womack married Rebecca Franklin in 1837 in Rankin Co, MS, and he
was likely there in 1840, but missed in the census. He is shown as A
J Womack, 36, born in AL in the 1850 Census. Being born in AL is
important. The David Womack/Mildred Pryor extended family was all in
Louisiana or Mississippi by 1814. Since Abram was born in AL in 1814,
he could not have been from the David Womack/Mildred Pryor bunch.
