This is the first in a series of messages I will post about
descendants of certain people who we want to take the DNA test, so we
can discover how they fit in to the larger Womack family.
I'll start with Wiley Jonithan Womack, who was in the 1910 Census of
Wake co, NC. He was the great-grandson of Benjamin Womack who made
his will in Cumberland Co, NC:

The line goes: Wiley Jonithan > Benjamin > Wiley > Benjamin
Benjamin, who made his will in Cumberland Co, NC, was the son of John
Womack and Sarah LNU. John died in 1764 in Johnston Co, NC, in the
part from which Wake Co, NC was later formed. Benjamin was the oldest
son, and got all of John's land except for Sarah one-third dowry,
which she sold to Benjamin.
John Womack who died 1764 in Johnston Co, NC is somewhat of a
mystery. He was certainly in Johnston Co by the mid-1750s. There was
a John Womack in Edgecombe Co, NC in 1748 who was probably the same
John. The 1748 reference to John Womack in Edgecombe Co, NC is the
very earliest known record of the Womack family outside of Virginia.
My hunch (and that of some other Womack researchers), is that John was
John III, grandson of the "original" John Womack of Prince George Co,
VA. A DNA test of a descendant would help place this John.
John Womack who died 1764 in Johnston Co, NC had two known sons,
Benjamin and William. William's line may have daughtered-out, but my
theory is that the Warmack family of Yazoo Co, MS descends from him.
I'll do another post on them.
John's son Benjamin named 4 sons in his will, but all of these lines
appear to have daughtered-out except for that of his great-grandson,
Wiley Jonithan Womack. See here for his widow's Civil War pension
application:

Wiley Jonithan had 4 or 5 sons. He was in Wake Co, NC for the 1910
Census. So, there is a chance that there is a living male Womack who
descends from Wiley Jonithan. I would appreciate any help in locating
a living male Womack descendant from this branch.
Thanks, Robert
