FYI, the 1950 census is available as of Apr 1:  https://1950census.archives.gov/

This site has a very rough search capability.  A computer scanned the census with mixed results.

It helps to know which of your ancestors were alive in 1950, and where they lived.  If you have an address, you can find the Enumeration District, which helps limit your search:  https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/district-map/62308

So far, I have found my dad with his parents in 1950 in Detroit, plus my wife's mom.  I have not found my mom (Smith) or m wife's dad (Murphy).  I have found several other grandparents. etc.

Ancestry and other sites are working on indexes, but you may be able to find your people sooner.
