Hello. my macbook started to freeze randomly. And i thought that it was because of full disk. And i backed up computer then formatted. But unfortunately after format again it s freezing randomly. Computer is empty (not installed applications like Photoshop). I gave my mac to Apple authorized service. They said, ur hard disk broke down. Then i changed my hard disk with new SSD hard disk. Again same problem. It's not about hard disk. But "Authorized Apple Service(!)" told me, your hard disk broke down. How they authorized by Apple? And also i changed RAM. Again same problem. Its not about RAM. Is it about processor? Somebody told me that if you set up your BIOS (EFI) it might be getting normal again. But i don't know how to use EFI. Finally i don't trust this Apple Service!! What can i do in this situation. Thanks for helps!

I forgot to write something. In addition. when i open my mac in safe mode, its not freezing (normally it s freezing while i go up and down with scroll bar, it freezes, but in safe mode its not.) Thanks.

format macbook

Sounds like either a faulty SSD (which is not a HDD) or faulty memory. Replace the RAM and see if that helps. Don't assume you know what's wrong because you can't unless you are equipped to fully test the hardware.

As i wrote, i changed hard disk with new one (SSD). It didn't solved. I changed RAM with new one again it didnt solved. And also my computer is empty (didnt install new applications, now it s with default applications) So how can it be in safe mode is okay, but normal mode isn't okay :S

Note that the AHT memory test is not particularly reliable. If the memory is only momentarily faulty, then it could take hours for that to be found by the memory test if it finds it at all. A more reliabel method is to replace the memory with modules known to be good. An alternative that may work is to remove both modules from your computer. Then insert only one module and test the computer. If it freezes, then swap in the other module and test again. If it works properly with one module then the other one is bad. If neither work then try fresh RAM or go back to the drawing board.

Since I don't know what you did when you swapped drives, and given that HDDs and SSDs are quite different beasts, you should be careful what you conclude. Same with memory testing (as I've commented later.)

I tested Apple Hardware Test. and result is there in attachment file.(screenshot). There is a battery error. I know my battery died. So after test it showed battery problem. But my issue is not related with battery. Bcz my battery died almost 3 months ago. And freezing problem has started 2 weeks ago. Still i am trying to solve it. Thanks...

My Mac is running slow. Took it to apple store. They as iced to for at hard drive and install fresh copy of OS. I'm starting Mac in recovery mode and choosing format. It says 'formatting failed, partition can of be monunted/ mounted'

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.

There is an issue with my Macbook pro for more than a month now. The Operating system never starts after loading and stops while displaying the Apple logo. After formatting and reinstalling the OS X with my Timemachine backups several times still nothing changed. I have already sent it for repair waiting to be fixed. The only information that I got from the support is that it was somehow fixed by reprogramming the operating system but after a month of waiting and once I tried to restored all my data from the Timemachine backup, the same issue remains unsolved.

Fortunately there was nothing wrong with the hardware but the main cause was a corruption of the latest version of OS X that I had previously installed. After re-installing the Mac OS X and upgrading the system through a new disk image file everything seems to be working perfectly now!

First of all if your backup has the same problem, then even erasing the drive and restoring a defective backup will put you back exactly where you were before. Either you need to restore from an earlier backup which doesn't have the issue, or you need to perform a clean install of macOS by first erasing the drive and then manually copying your data from the backup drive. This will require you to reinstall & reconfigure all of the apps. Maybe you can get by and restore just your user account from the backup while manually reinstalling all your third party apps.

The other thing that may be happening is you may have a defective hard drive SATA cable which is extremely common on the 13" MBPro (mid-2012) model. This cable is inexpensive and easily replaced. You can purchase a cable from OWC.

Can you boot into Safe Mode? If so, then I recommend running DriveDx to check the health of the hard drive. Apple's diagnostics won't catch most drive failures. Post the complete DriveDx report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

You can check the health of the hard drive using Knoppix Linux. Use the Knoppix .iso file as a source for Etcher (Mac/Windows/Linux) which will create a bootable Knoppix USB drive. Option Boot the Knoppix USB drive and select the orange icon labeled "EFI". While Knoppix is booting the computer may appear frozen on the boot picker menu so give Knoppix lots of time to finish booting.

Once Knoppix reaches the desktop click on the "Start" menu icon on the lower left corner of the Taskbar and navigate the menus to "System Tools ---> GSmartControl". Within the GSmartControl app double-click on the laptop's hard drive icon to access the drive's health information. Post the full report here. If you have a Fusion Drive setup (or multiple internal drives), then post the full report for each drive.

If you had this computer repaired by Apple or an AASP within the last 90 days, then take it back to them so they can make things right while you still have a part warranty on the previously replaced part(s).

Sorry, it seems I made a mistake there. The boot device is actually the internal hard drive Macintosh HD not the external. I have them both confused, I meant for the answers 2 and 3 the Internal HD and for 6 the backup HD.

Does completely formatting the internal hard drive by erasing all files, cause the Macbook not booting or could it be something else? Before trying to restore my backup I did erase everything from the drive, that's why I am asking this.

I did erase the whole hard drive once I took back the macbook. It was my very first action. Then I tried to restore all files from the latest backup from Time machine and after I experienced the booting issue once again I tried to restore them from the backup with the previous date but still nothing changed. It was the same issue since the first day that I had to take it to the service for repairing. They also formatted the drive and try to reinstall the MAC OS but the also had the same booting problem afterwards. I also tried to do a clean installation of MacOS myself before that as well without results, unfortunately. That's why I had to send it to the Apple support eventually.

The Keynote will be available to stream on apple.com, the Apple Developer app, the Apple TV app, and the Apple YouTube channel. On-demand playback will be available after the conclusion of the stream.

I'm a new Mac user and have been using it for a month now. Since Friday my command changed itself to pasting without formatting. When I do the command shift v, that's when I can paste with format. Not sure how it got swapped. I tried searching but couldn't figure it out. I found a solution that says how I can set up a shortcut for all applications. I want to know how it got swapped and how to get back the original shortcut. Any help is really appreciated.

Actually, the format of the paste is whatever it was from where you copied. I like arial fonts and frequently I am copying from a times-roman font document, and I want to match the style in the new document. IF the new was using times-roman, then the paste be a match, (and height if the common 12 pt). I favor using the drop-down menus for most everything. My old computer running HiSierra worked this same way. OS-12.4 has some new tricks, paste is not one of them. You will do well. Best wishes.

I use my MacBook pro-2020 for my freelance job and the last project customer required me to install many security systems and the problem is Cloudshell which forbidden any use of USB and I can't delete it (**** Chinese!). The client told me I can only do the low-level format and then use backup once I finish the project (which they told me to do before installing this which I did). This seems like a very big thing to do when you are only just a normal user who can only clean up trash bin.

I am a longterm user of 1Password(using a family license), syncing via Dropbox but never changed my file format from agilekeychain. I have a brand new MacBook, so I downloaded 1Password 7 from your website (I've never used the Mac App Store for 1P), and installed it. On opening, I'm prompted to choose a sync option, choose dropbox, and then I am stuck. Clearly it wants a .opvault that I don't have.
Should I install an older version, sync to my dropbox agilekeychain file, and then do the upgrade to 1 Password 7?
Do I need to change the dropbox file first?
