I am now to Autodesk Nastran and having some display problems with the nastran cad module. Thus I get some yellow lines between certain nodes. However the calculation is working and the results are more or less applicable.

The issue is also occuring with the adjusted software rendering option. After an investigation I found out that the problem occurs with quadratic elements only. Also it is related to the color of the center nodes of the mesh. Thus Nastran is putting some mid element nodes in the mesh and somehow connects them randomly between each other. The problem is also not occuring when the mesh is coarse (30mm). Since the model is a bit more detailed a finer mesh is required (5mm).

3. Solid elements do not allow rotational degrees of freedom. So, for example, if you need to simulate a simple supported shaft, you can define rigid body connectors on the desired locations and then select the point for assigning constraints. You can then release the desired rotational degree of freedom to simulate a pin connection.

4. You can achieve mesh convergence by checking Corner and Centroidal Data Type results. If the difference in value is less than 10%, you can assume convergence has been achieved. Note the maximum value needs to be in the same place.

7. When analysing bolted connections within Inventor Nastran you can include washers from the inventor environment. This will remove the need to define split faces required to correctly define the load-bearing faces.

Calendars, tasks lists, and project planning tools are important for your business to help keep processes on track and enable task accountability. However, running multiple apps to conduct tasks often adds complexity to a workflow and can have a negative effect on productivity and efficiency.

I am now using a simplified model similar to ( -nastran/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticl...) and went the route of beam elements and rigid body connectors to simulate the pin, following the tutorial as close as possible.

When I run the analysis, the beam element does not bend as expected, but rather hinges in the centre. Is this the correct behaviour or am I missing a something? Another concern I have is that the holes for the male and female clevis become misaligned. The pin does not fail in shear so I imagine the holes should stay aligned even with the exaggerated deformation shown.

The bottom face of the model is constrained in all directions and a 30000N load is placed on the top face. All surface contacts are separation. I have also tried using a surface contact between the inside faces of the clevises and the beam element to see if that fixes the alignment issue, but appear to make no difference.
