I just emailed Steiner with the following details:

>>>

The external A-block front door is missing the retaining bar at the top, which all the other communal doors have installed. This has been what has allowed the door to swing wide open, knocking the standing pipe in the exterior wall, and causing our entrance wall to bulge and crack. It also seems to have resulted in warping of the door itself, which now does not close properly, and air and light gets in at the bent bottom panel. The internal handle is also coming loose. I think the entire door will need to be replaced at this point.

>>>

You might want to keep an eye on the main front door as it does not close well, and if left open can be caught by the wind and bangs against the water pipe, damaging both the wall and the pipe.

Hi Rupert,

Sounds bad about the door. To be honest I'm not so surprised looking at the build quality from Steiner
I think this falls into the Verwaltungs domain (Meilenstein), probably an email to them would be more effective as they can push more.
To which person at Steiner did you send the email?
We sent a couple to Mr. Bernath for some new issues in our apartment but no answer at all until now

Cheers,
Damjan.

So we have been dealing with Thomas Steffen, but I think he has his hands full with the new blocks coming online. Steiner do need to handle this as it was an incomplete installation on their part which has generated the knock on effects. There's some actual structural damage to the inside of our flat because the standing pipe was badly installed, and then with the door knocking into it, it has buckled and cracked the wall on our entrance way. Meilenstein would charge us for the fix, but it is Steiner's shortcoming that caused it in the first place and it should be there's to make amends.

Good news is that they put the retainer bar in the door now. The bad news is the door is already quite warped after all that banging.
  • The paint is chipped of the center where it repeatedly hit the tap.
  • It doesn't close properly anymore, there's always a gap at the bottom.
  • And the inside handle is quite loose and wobbly.
I'm hoping we can have Steiner replace this as it was not installed properly in the first place.
