Three Steps to Reverse Citizens United and Restore Representative Democracy in America:
1. Find a state representative or state senator to introduce this resolution in your state: http://bit.ly/13E87Y3
2. Once introduced, the resolution will be assigned to a committee, so ask members of the committee for their support (helpful talking points: http://bit.ly/14Z2yEp).
3. Once through committee, it will get a vote in the legislature, so ask legislators for their support (contact info for legislators in your state: http://www.wolf-pac.com/states).

With this document(https://docs.google.com/document/d/16k_iwdwxJlAAZKeYCOJ_S1Za82U_XevCp6wwPXklcBU/edit), do we simply eave a message with it or somehow email our respective senator?

This is the resolution language I would hand to a representative or senator in person; be sure to substitute "your state" with Tennessee. Also, there are phone scripts available for you to use for speaking with your legislator or their gatekeeper(s). Please refer to : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WiLYmzzNa61hZFP53Xl4FKzQd0MysQoUPgASwMGomtE/edit .
Let me know if that helps.

In Elizabethton TN, Rep. Kent Williams and Sen. Rusty Crowe.  Is there any comprehensive plan here in TN for action on our part as citizens to work towards this resolution?  I will be keeping up here but I would like to get more involved in whatever we are planning to do.

It is well and good that we know our "representatives" and inform them of our resolution, but I do believe the action can't stop here.

If we simply dictate our ideas to them and expect them to make a difference, nothing will ever get done.

I believe the thing we need to focus on is drumming up the support of our fellow state citizens.

We need to organize assemblies in cities across Tennessee.  It just starts with advertising a reason for assembly and finding a few speakers willing to prepare speeches.  We can also allow people to share their own thoughts.

It starts with making people aware, the action will follow.

I believe in this resolution and will be using all of my resources to the best of my ability to push this forward, and I hope you are all with me!

I might also suggest that we get a email group put together, so that we can all be kept up to date with what is going on.

Hi Victoria!  Thanks for chiming in to the TN Email Group.  If you can make it you should join the new volunteer orientation happening in 15 minutes. (1pm Central)

You're on the right track, though the only thing I'd differ with is the first course of action.  We've found that it really helps to find a sponsor of our Resolution first, and then we can rally people behind that.  So we really only need a couple of dedicated, trained people in Tennessee to get this first step completed.  I'll show you what I'm talking about if you can join us at 1pm today!  Call the number below.   cheers, -  Mike

Hey guys. Welcome to the team! The first step to getting started is to attend our orientation. It's all done over the phone and computer. We'll explain our goals, strategy, and exactly how you can help. We have one tonight at 8pm eastern, tomorrow, and Thursday at the same time. Let me know if any of those works for you and I'll get you the call information.

If anyone else is interested in helping to build your team and get your state on the board for fighting against political money corruption, just holla and I'll help you get you started.

Thanks!

Hi Alison, I haven't been on an orientation call before but I believe in this mission and have become an advocate for this already in my community and family. I can't get on tonight's call, but I may be finished work tomorrow in time for the call (Thursday 8pm EST). Please send me the info and I hopefully I can be counted among those on the call tomorrow. Thank you for everything you are doing for this cause!

Hi Mike,
I have contacted Judd Matheny, met with him today, and I am wondering if I am responsible for updating the worksheet.  It is important to me right now because Rep. Matheny would like to know who has been contacted in the house.  I gave him the name of the only one that I thought was interested, and they are friends.  He plans to get together with him and others to discuss it and asked me to stay in contact.  So, I am wondering if the list is up to date, and do I fill in the info.  I wrote to Alison to update her.  Then I red the updates to the worksheet in MO and it seemed that it was updated by the volunteers themselves.

Hey Teresa!

First of all, thank you for meeting with your Representative! You rock! I'm glad to hear he's interested in our bill. That's awesome!

As far as updating the contact spreadsheet, absolutely! As the person in the meeting you will always have the most detailed perspective on how it went, and when it comes to documenting these things the more details the better! If you'd be willing to fill out the spreadsheet for your meeting that'd be great. :D

I can't speak to how up to date this spreadsheet is for previous meetings because I'm new to pitching in with Tennessee, but going forward we absolutely are going to use this spreadsheet as a central hub for all of our contact with Reps and Senators. Everything should be documented so we can always know what the situation is in case something like your scenario comes up. So lets make that happen starting with the notes for your meeting! For now just operate under the assumption that the contact notes are the only thing we have to go off of, and we can build on it from there. (:

Thanks again for stepping up Teresa! Let me know if there's anything you need to keep engaging with Tennessee Reps!
