My old swim coach used to tell us that he could sense how good a race we’d had by our facial expression at the end. If you had anything left at the end, it wasn't your best. If you wanted results, you had to leave it all at the pool.

One of our most inspiring stories comes from Hawaii, where our team fought through enormous adversity to get a committee hearing.  It was not a typical or predictable problem — in fact, two of our committed sponsors withdrew their promised support during the last week before our deadline, and we had to find a new sponsor in extremely limited time.  To add to this dilemma, the Vice Chair of our committee received pressure to not allow us a meeting at all.

Luckily, we had the preparation and determination to make our voices heard.  Friends and neighbors of our team, as well as party, community, and organization contacts, were contacted to help us. This required far more effort than a simple “click here to send a testimony” button; participants had to make an account and write original content on the state’s website. Yet we still dominated the opposition, both in written testimonies and those streamed during the committee hearing.

The final tally was 140 in support of our resolution, and 27 opposed.  Nearly 85% of all testimonies championed Wolf-PAC's resolution in a strong and passionate way.  While the vote was eventually deferred, it was clear that our Hawaii team had done everything it could.

They put everything they had into this swim.

— John Shen, National Legislative Director

Hawaii

The Free and Fair Elections Resolution (HCR128), sponsored by Representative Jackson Sayama, was referred to the House Government Reform Committee, and was then scheduled for a hearing. The resolution was unfortunately deferred by the Vice-Chair, Representative Tina Wildberger, ending its chances for the year.

Kansas

The Free and Fair Elections Resolution (HCR 5009), introduced by the House Elections Committee, is now on hold until the 2022 session because the deadline to consider new legislation this year has passed. The legislation will remain filed and can be acted on immediately in the 2022 session.

Washington

The Free and Fair Elections Memorial (SJM 8002), introduced by Senator Patty Kuderer, wasn't given priority for a vote this session, and is now on hold until the 2022 legislative session.  However, our volunteers still put in an extraordinary effort, presenting to legislators the testimony of over 625 volunteer communications.

After three years of hard work in rebuilding the Kansas team, this year we passed a major milestone; we were FINALLY introduced as HCR5009 on February 8. While we did not pass, I could not be more proud of our team.”  -- Josh Hall, Kansas State Organizer

On HR1/S1

As Wolf-PAC supports all paths to restore a government that reflects the will of the people, we support HR-1/S1, and we applaud the effort of all groups and individuals who have been working toward this shared goal.

However, we recognize that HR-1, even if passed in its current form, will not be immune from getting decimated by the Supreme Court, whose recent trend of decisions have seriously hampered our ability to gain freedom from corruption. Even if HR-1 passes, we’ll still need a constitutional amendment to limit the amount of big money pouring into our elections.

That’s why Wolf-PAC is here.  We believe the lives of everyday Americans remain in limbo, and that an amendment is the strongest and longest-lasting remedy for this problem. It’s a goal we must work together to attain. Our representative democratic republic is at stake.

Our earth, our climate, and the corruption that halts reform

Another Earth Day has passed, yet there are still no clear and quantified actions that will halt the ramifications of climate change.

How is this tied to campaign finance reform? Brian Martel, Deputy Director of Opinions for our Communications Team, explains how fossil fuel money affects climate change and obstructs our ability as activists to implement policies that will preserve the planet. Read here, and if you're interested in researching, writing, editing, or brainstorming ideas,  join Brian’s team!

To paraphrase the famous saying about running, “if you’re fighting for election integrity while on your couch, you’ll soon be lapped by everyone.”  Usually, this reflects the necessity to get out into the world and physically do the hard work.  But wait--Wolf-PAC is full of things you can actually DO FROM YOUR COUCH!!  Best of both worlds!  You can always volunteer or donate.

Also, we’ve got some great couch-wearing swag.
