Summary of May 10 call:
On the call: Anson Gordon-Creed, Vincent DiBattista, Joan Pelc, Danielle Godjikian, Neil Goldstein, Nick Valeriano
Nick, our Legislative Director, led the call.
Neil gave an update on our Google Group, which has been out of action for a couple of weeks. Wolf-PAC has determined that the problem is with Google, but that since we use a free version, they probably will be slow to fix it. WP’s John Shen will communicate with Neil with any updates. In the meantime, we continue to post on the Slack #PAUAvolunteers channel, so please monitor that, and join it if you’re not already on. If you have trouble joining, let your organizer know, or contact Neil, neil...@aol.com.
Legislative update from Nick: We’re still working on finding a Republican prime sponsor in the House. We have a potential candidate who said to check back with them in summer, but we’re trying to recruit someone to sign on now. At the same time, we’re focusing now on getting introduced in the Senate.
A new volunteer came on the call — Anson Gordon-Creed, who learned of WP through “The Young Turks.” A student at Drexel U., Anson has worked with the WP communications team, helping make a few social media posts. He also has phone banked several times for WP.
Nick went over our plan for this week’s phone-banking in PA (called an internal Wolf Attack). We’re asking volunteers to help make calls to PAUA supporters in the districts of Sen. Costa (63 people) and Sen. Browne’s (19 ppl). We’re asking the supporters to call to their senator, thanking them for being a prime sponsor of the Free and Fair Elections Resolution and urging them to introduce the resolution as soon as possible. Be on the lookout for the call scripts and the document to keep track of who you called and their commitment level.
We are also planning a Citizens Action Day (in-person lobbying) at the Capitol in Harrisburg, possibly in June. Stay tuned for details!
