Hi, Mike, Chris, & Dan,
I'm LuAnne Parrish in Corinth. I have already spoken to my state representative, Nick Bain and sent him a link to Wolf-Pac and just sent him a link to this group, so I'm hoping he will get a chance to check both sites out when the holidays have passed us by. He's a young man, but a Democrat and I'm hoping this will be the start of great things for our state and our nation, too. I am a 1978 graduate of Mississippi University for Women, which is the oldest state supported college for women in the United States, a fact that I am extremely proud of! The Seven Sisters in the northeast are older, of course, but they were all privately funded. It gives me hope that the Mississippi legislature of today might one day be as forward thinking and progressive on womens' rights as their late Nineteenth Century counterparts were...

Hi LuAnne!  Thanks so much for chiming in and introducing yourself.  Sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been beyond buried lately, (in a good way, we've got a ton of momentum)

We should definitely try to talk soon, you can call me anytime tomorrow (Monday) or anytime after Christmas.

Have a great holiday season LuAnne,

Welcome to Wolf PAC Mississippi.  One thing that you could do from overseas is to research who might be the best candidates to introduce our Resolution based on their past stance on Citizens United/campaign finance reform.  Let me know if you'd be interested in taking on that project.  Look forward to working with you. -  Mike

As a start, I found no records on Votesmart.org for Campaign finance issues in Mississippi.  So that's a yes, I'll be glad to dig into it!  I'm also spreading the word throughout Democrats Abroad about Wolf PAC.  We represent every state in America from nearly every country in the world.  We send delegations to the DNC Convention.  So this should help even if few of us can be ground troops.  But we are a strong voice!

Let me know what more I can do and how you want me to narrow the research as it progresses.
Thanks!

this idea of getting Dems Abroad on board.  I have always felt that an underused resource is that Dems Abroad has members from all 50 states and that can be used more effectively than it has been.  I do know the guy who used to be the "lobbyist" for Dems Abroad, I will contact him to see what he thinks.  My email address is the identifying name above, plus yahoo.

I hope I can be useful when I am needed.

Hello Wolf-Pac members,
I posted before and said that I was coming to MS for about a week,  I live principally in Mexico, but am a USA citizen and MS resident ( I certainly pay MS state taxes without using the benefits).   I heard from one fellow who lives in/near Jackson.
This sounds pretty on-the-run, (and it is), because of the little time I have on this trip to MS,
I wanted to meet other Wolf-PAC people and perhaps go to a State Rep's office with one or more?
I will be near Natchez from June 30 to July 5.  In Jackson, for July 6 and 7, returning to Jackson about July 16.  At that time I would have a little free time for Jackson "Meets".
Just because I live in MX, does not mean I am not an involved USA citizen.  In fact, I have more time to be involved in my local OWS group as well as phone and online time…than many peers in the  States.  I think Wolf-PAC is our best bet to get some Common Sense and Go-Local into our
national  dismal miasma.
Please answer with contacts if you are interested in getting together within my (apologies)
scanty timeframe.  thanks, Georgeann

Hi. I am Ken from Jackson.  We are a little slow on the get-off in this group.  But, we are getting it.  In your local library you can ask for the Blue Book at the reference desk.  It is published by the Mississippi Secretary of State.  It list your state house and senate member.  It is more accurate than the internet references. Wolf Pac is asking us to post our progress on a spreadsheet for our state as a numeric code number.  You can find a link to the spreadsheet through the hyper link inside the United States map found on the Wolf Pac home page.  Click on the state of Mississippi.

Hello Phillip. The answer is no. The house resolution#108 did not pass in the 2012 session. And, resolution#108 didn't have any Republican Co - signing. Michael Monetta has asked that Wolf Pac State Legislative Resolution be introduced. He thinks the language may attract Republican support

Hey you guys and ladies,  I had a meeting with a sitting Mississippi state senator today.  He was cool if not cold.  Yet, I think we have an ally in the Mississippi legislature.  He said he needs cosponsors to grow interest about the resolution in the 2015 session.  He also said we needed cosponsors when the resolution is introduced in the 2016 session when it has a chance to pass.  2016 session is after the 2015 elections. [ you know that is what's wrong with politics] God bless 'Em

Today I talked with Rep. Nick Bain from district #2.  He is Mississippi's first green box on the worksheet.  He cautioned us about the MS House of Representatives procedures. They are: The speaker of the house can assign a new legislative items to any committee.  The committee chairperson can table legislation without a committee vote.  The speaker will choose which committee gets legislation based on the speakers opinion about who will table the legislation.  So we need the Speaker of the Mississippi House to help us bring the resolution out of committee.

We got two for one deal today.  I met senators Terry C, Burton and senator John Horhn. Terry C, Burton says he trust John Horhn's judgement and John Horhn supports the resolution.  That makes two out of five down.  Horhn said today that policy forbid resolution directed at the United States Congress.  But, Chairman Giles ( Jyils) Ward is a new chairman of the rules committee.  So he may not hold the same views.

HELLO EVERYONE, Senator Giles Ward is a very courtesy man with a great poker face.  He is so busy that he will never remember the name Wolf PAC but maybe we can change that fact.  He does know now that Senator Frazier has a State Resolution in his committee.  And, he knows that the citizens of Mississippi want him to forward resolution SC531 to the Mississippi senate floor for a vote.  We may have competition form a balance budget amendment resolution which was being debated on the senate floor yesterday.  But, that senator (whoever he was) eaten up by the members of the senate in questioning.  We must do better if we get OUR chance.  We must know our talking points.  We are coming for them- RIGHT!

I will probably need to leave the group. Though I still support the ideas. I am reading up on ethics and campaign laws. I am running for Senate District 3 here in MS, and I know other states have laws against coordinating with PACs, and so I want to make sure I do not violate any laws here in MS that could jeopardize getting elected and furthering our cause. I am going up against Nickey Browning. Who won as a D but crossed over to R side after election. I am still doing research on the laws here about getting newsletters and such from PACs, so not sure what I need to do and not do fully currently. But giving a heads up.

I know good intentions, but actually don't pass it on!  We can't use these groups to talk badly about State Legislators. In our Theory of Change the State Legislators are the good guys and a lot of times they or their staffers join these Google Groups to see what we're all about.  So let's keep the bayonets pointed at the bad guys - Congress!  If someone has to take a lot of money (even from the Koch Brothers) to get elected that doesn't mean they like that part of their job.  If they don't think big money in politics is a problem, that's perfectly fine. They are entitled to that opinion. But most likely they think something about the election system can work better (term limits, voter/donor rule, gerry mandering), and that's where the conversation should always go in this type of a conversation.  Thanks for kicking ass and continuing to line up meetings Ken, you're a warrior! Just a heads up. Thanks again, - Mike

Ken Weston sent me an E-mail and asked me how I could get involved. I am an Artist/activist in that I create artworks to provoke dialog for social change. Please see http://artsylvain.com. I responded to Mr. Weston's email, but found it disappeared from my computer and any record of it in my mailing application right after I pressed "send"? I wondered for a moment if Wolf-pac has attracted Koch bros hackers... Ha! I hope this one makes it.

My thought was this....
I don't know how hard it will be to remove the mire of legislation and violations that have resulted in the idiocy of "Citizens United" and their ilk, but I would like to suggest a long tradition of change effected in the last century or so.

If there is to be for some time into the foreseeable future this criminal funding of propaganda and candidates to all offices of government both federal and state, the I believe there need be two parallel lines of attack to get the united States back to some semblance of the Country setup by the framers of the constitution.

  1. Move forward with the Wolf-Pac call for a convention and create a direct attack on those regulations that provide for these egregious behaviors as well as placing legislation that would prohibit future attempts to fund propaganda and political candidates. For this to be effective I think also requires a comprehensive answer to what methodology is acceptable for campaigning at all levels of governance.
  2. Introduce legislation that modifies existing funding avenues at all levels of moneys, direct and indirect, to campaign or otherwise promote political agenda in the following ways:
    1. 25% of all monies goes directly to the NEA for distribution to all states for the support of local alternative exhibition spaces, artist run, untaxed, as long as a good plan of community service to the Fine arts is submitted. See my website for TRIBE fine art at http://tlkfineart.org for an example.
    2. 25% additionally is to go directly to federally funded higher education for the purpose of eliminating tuition.
    3. 25% is then distributed to state and federal infrastructure rebuilding and maintenance.
    4. The remaining 25% is goes into a political action fund setup to pay fees and all costs of campaigning to all parties regardless of affiliation and to level out the candidacy process for all groups to end the stranglehold of the 2 party system.
In other words, we regulate and tax the "donations" out of existence, and re-purpose that money to the places it should have gone to in the first place.

For my part, I would like to speak on the behalf of the arts, participate in panel discussions and to do this in conjunction with exhibitions of like minded artists as well as my own.
I have prepared speeches and spoken on panels in Museum exhibitions of my work to the public and to local college and high school students. I have also been a board member of artist run alternative spaces and maintained my own vigilance in this field.

Art, Love, and Respect,

I have a misunderstanding about how the volunteer link works.  Call or text me at 601-613-8654   I need your contact information.  I can tell that you have some other person's e-mail account. Also, forget about the donation link.  I really thought it was a link to my email address.  I am Ken the Mississippi State Director.

HEY WOLF PAC I hope you guys has been able to read the file in my new string called Who is a candidate This is an election year.  If you see that someone has challenged your representative or senator for a legislative seat in YOUR DISTRICT, you should call the candidate too.  The Mississippi Secretary of State has the contact information for each qualifying candidate if you need that information.  They will send it to you by email. Write the secretary of state at this email address amanda...@sos.ms.gov

Hi Dejayh, we wont tell if you don't tell about your voting age.  Fill out the contact form.  On the phone, I can tell you about training for volunteers.  There is much to learn about the Mississippi legislature.  Maybe, you grow from wolf pup to  wolf soldier by the August primary electionsThank you for your support.

Three Steps to Reverse Citizens United and Restore Representative Democracy in America:
1. Find a state representative or state senator to introduce this resolution in your state: http://bit.ly/13E87Y3
2. Once introduced, the resolution will be assigned to a committee, so ask members of the committee for their support (helpful talking points: http://bit.ly/14Z2yEp).
3. Once through committee, it will get a vote in the legislature, so ask legislators for their support (contact info for legislators in your state: http://www.wolf-pac.com/states).
