The cover article of the next issue of Just Out is about Portland's Faerie community, and Marty Davis is asking for help with images. See below for what she's looking for.

If you have photos or art you'd be willing to share, or good image sources, contact ma...@justout.com.

love Stella

P.S. I talked with Erin, who is writing the piece, and feel hopeful that the piece will be friendly and open-minded.

Since I sent you the email we discovered Kwai lam, who gives generic permission to use his photos---so I am looking at his site right now.

We go to press on Thursday so this Saturday is out---had I known the difficulty of this project I surely would have been there a month ago  :)

Ideally we would have happy, colorful photos of celebration. We have discovered that people are reluctant to have pictures of themselves used--so images of "things' i guess, flags, banners, marching in Pride Parades, that's very public, symbols, any of those things.

Thanks for getting back to me so very fast....

Any ideas you can come up with will be GREATLY appreciated.  We've written a fine article, but we need visuals to draw the reader in----

We want to tell your story----

Older historical black & white photos would be great too. The last page of this spread falls on a B & W page.

Unfortunately I only have two more days to put this together.

We love, love, love Stevee Postman's work---but can't find him  :(

Hi Marty,
What are you looking for? Color, black and white, both? Portraits, group shots, candids? Portland Faeries? Anyfaeries? Where? Doing what?

I have a bunch of personal snapshots of Faeries, and I will look through them for ones that might work for your article. Just so you know, I would need to get consent from the subjects before I could let you use them for publication. When is your deadline?

Other suggestions:
Come to Faerie coffee on Saturday and shoot there. Then you could get permission from the subjects on the spot. This is seems like the easiest solution.
Ask Kwai Lam (kw...@kwailam.com), a pro photographer in Santa Cruz, who has thousands of Faerie photos, or Pan (wayn...@gmail.com), a local Faerie photographer.
Ask RFD Magazine (rfdmag.org) if you can use images from the Portland issue a few years back.

Finally, with your permission, I can repost your request to the local Faerie lists. It would be helpful to include more info about what you're looking for and when you need it.

Looking forward to the article! Erin asked lots of interesting questions.

love Stella Maris

Hi there,

Just out has a great story being published on the Faeries this week-----but I'm running into a bit of a bind with it.

We can't find any photos. Anywhere. Of anyone.

So I have two questions.

One, would you have any photos that you might be willing to let us use?

If not, or even if so, would you allow me to photograph you for the story?

I can be reached via this email or at 503-799-5589. That's my cell and it's always with me.

Thanks for your consideration.
