Wolf Creek Radical Faerie Sanctuary Samhain Call 2011

Nomenus exists to create, preserve, and manage places of cultural
spiritual sanctuary for radical fairies and their friends to gather in
harmony with nature for renewal, growth and shared learning.

Work Week: October 20-26 (be sure to read to the bottom of the call
for info about work week!)
Samhain Gathering: October 27-Nov 2

Welcome faeries.
Gather with us in the dim of the new moon to celebrate another turn of
the wheel. Gather to mark the movement into the dark time, to join in
the hunt for the Stag King, and to dance around the fire alongside the
spirits of your ancestors. Connect to Samhain fires burning all over
the north and reach out to our friends in the south who dance around
their Beltaine fires. Let us come together to listen to our ancestors
and learn from their stories. We get to use their knowledge to write
our new story, using their light to carry us into the darkness.

As we turn inward for the winter, we need our community to love us,
guide us and generally keep us warm. We take this time at Samhain, not
only to honor our beloved dead, but also to rejoice in the community
that we have created in this life. We use this Samhain time to give
thanks and offerings to the spirits who have brought us abundance in
this last year.

This is our gathering. We get to decide what it looks like and how it
feels. Bring your beautiful intention to create this magical
container. Shed your personal light on this community to carry us
through together as a family

Blessed be...

The community on the land will be placing a food order prior to the
gathering. If you have specific meals in mind that you intend to
prepare, food that you intend to bring, or concerns about your diet,
please let the folks on the land know ahead of time.

SOME THOUGHTS ON SUBSTANCES

These are our intentions for the use of medicines such as tobacco and
other herbs and substances:

*To create a strong container and a clear conduit for our personal and
tribal magic.
*To respect the diversity of experiences, beliefs, and boundaries
around substance use.
*To support the healing work of those in recovery or struggling with addiction.
*To honor the medicine spirits and to ask for their blessings.

COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS

We ask you to respect these agreements while at this Gathering:
*Please use all substances intentionally, mindfully, and with respect
for yourself and those around you.
*Please smoke only in these areas:
In the Smoking Circle behind the Barn
Behind Garden House
On the South side of the firepit
In the parking lot
*Please DON’T smoke on the paths, at your campsite, in Garden House,
in the Barn, or on the North side of the firepit.
*Halston and the Heart Circles are substance-free space. Please don't
smoke, use, or be under the influence in those places.
*Please use alcohol in moderation, and only in the parking lot. The
exception is Libation Night, beginning after dinner on Saturday
October 29th, when there will be ritual use of alcohol in circle.
*Please be responsible for all items you bring to the Sanctuary. If
you pack it in, pack it out. Please leave your camping space and our
whole Sanctuary in a better condition than you found it.

Please NO:

*Speed, heroin, or cocaine—not in you, not on you, not in your car.
*Violence or intolerance.
*Fire, smoking, candles, or incense on paths or at campsites.
*Pets. Yes, your dog is lovely. But a dozen dogs in a barking,
fighting, pooping pack? Not so lovely. For the safety and comfort of
everyone at the Gathering, please leave your dog at home. A kennel is
available in Merlin, the next town south, where you can board your
furry loved one. It is called Creekside Boarding, (541) 471-7144, ask
for Donna.

ITEMS FOR THE SAMHAIN FIRE

Please bring only natural safe burning items for our community
cauldron. The Samhain fire consumes and transmutes that which we
release there. Symbols are powerful; synthetics poison the air of your
brother/sisters. We will have supplies for making non-synthetic fetish
offerings to the fire which you can charge with your intent.

Don't Bring a Mess * Don't Be a Mess * Don't Leave a Mess

WANNA HELP OUT?
Gatherings take work from everyone. We all put in our part and just a
little bit more. There are always things that need to be done.
Remember also that if you are new and perhaps don’t know what all the
jobs are that can be done, don’t be afraid to ask. There are plenty of
faeries around to teach you how to restock a shitter, cut wood, or get
involved in ritual planning!

NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AT A GATHERING (OR BEFORE), HERE ARE SOME IDEAS!
• FUN-Raisers: Organize delightful events to raise energy and money
for the gathering and the Sanctuary.
• Kitchen Queens: Help the kitchen flow smoothly. Plan menus, help
with ordering, manage the kitchen, support the cooks. Mama Vi Knowing
Looks (Audrey) is focalizing the food order. Please contact her if you
want to cook a meal.

• Cooks: Sign up with a couple of friends to cook a meal. Nourish your
Faerie kin and make their tummies happy.

• Flowmeister: Help people hook up with jobs needing to be done. Be
the logistical lubricant that makes the whole gathering run smoothly.
• Transportation Coordinator: Organize rides to & from Greyhound
Grants Pass, Medford airport, Klamath Falls train station, and beyond.
• Zombie Surgeon General: Make sure the first aid kits are stocked and
organize other Zombie Nurses (first aid / emergency response).
At the Gathering
• Registration: Hang out at the Welcome Tent or the Barn to greet and
orient new arrivals.
• Templekeepers: Help clean and tend the Garden House and Barn
• Firewood Czar: Organize woodcutting parties while looking all butch
with a chainsaw.
• Fire Tenders: Help with firewood and keep our tribal fires burning.
• Dishwashers: Dishwashers eat first and are the sexiest faeries.
• Garden/Greenhouse: The Sanctuary can always use help with
permaculture projects. Please check with land fae before helping out.
• Ritual Planning: Help hold the container and guide the energy for
our communal magic.
• Shitter Patrol: Keep our trusty shitters clean and well-stocked. A
humble yet vital job.
• Trash Hauler: Carry trash and recycling off the Land so we leave
ZERO TRASH FOOTPRINT.
• Zombie Nurses: Be a clear and grounded presence to safeguard your
fellow Faeries.

Make this part of your intention today!!!

WORK WEEK:
A lot of preparation goes into a gathering. Before these gatherings we
have a work week, where people are welcome to come to the land and
help out. Things that generally happen at work week can include
chopping wood, getting food, stocking the shitters, generally sprucing
up the place, and a whole lot of fun.

In addition, October 26th, the night before the gathering is the new
moon. An intention has been set to have a new moon ritual at this
time. Consider that as you make your travel plans for Samhain this
year.

REGISTER TODAY!

Please register ahead of time! This gives the gathering committee an
idea of how many folks will be blessing our gathering. If you register
ahead of time, that means that we will have enough food, propane, and
toilet paper to last the entire gathering.

The suggested donation is $35 per person per day. Here at Wolf Creek
Sanctuary, we invoke NOTAFLOF (No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds)
and GAYAABAGS (Give As You Are Able But Always Give Something). Please
help out the sanctuary in any way that you can. This donation is an
act of magic, helping to create the material necessities of our
container.

Please think about what you can do for this gathering, be it donating
money, goods and/or time. The sanctuary could really use our help to
help get Dallas, Aka, and Anu through the winter as well as providing
for our gathering!

Please repost this widely.
