Call for the Queer Magic Urban Gathering 2011
September 24-26, 2011

We are living on the cusp of change. All around us, old systems are
breaking down. The signs are clear, the message urgent: we must change
the way we live. An era of thoughtless consumption is ending; new ways
of thinking and being struggle to take root. So much hangs in the
balance. Can humans change in time?
As queer people, we have big work to do. Elders and indigenous
teachers tell us we have a special role to play in the healing of our
world. This moment desperately needs our gifts. Now is no time to numb
ourselves with distractions or become frozen with despair. What’s
needed is for us to connect with our own true natures and the timeless
sources of our power. It’s time for us to let our queer hearts shine
forth with integrity and fierce compassion—and to grab each other’s
hands and hold on tight.
Queer Magic is a sacred container where we can explore our unique
abilities—as visionaries, healers, priest/esses, artists, activists,
bridge-builders, and magic-workers of all kinds—to enliven and
transform the city where we live.
Come for a brief but sweet Fall gathering in the City of Roses. Let’s
connect in and around a delightfully industrial urban sanctuary, and
enjoy a last taste of golden Summer as the year turns toward the
season of rest and renewal.
Queer Magic is a hands-on, do-it-yourself, collaborative experience.
Our sanctuary is co-created, our activities are self-generated. At
Queer Magic, there are no observers, no tourists, no consumers. Only
participants.
What is the workshop that you most long to attend? What circle or
excursion or act of loving service excites you and calls forth your
creative juice? What is your contribution to our communal harvest?
BRING IT. Bring your superpowers, bring your vulnerable open heart,
bring your visions and obsessions and questions and curiosity. Above
all, bring your queer magic, whatever forms it may take.
Your sisterbrothers are calling you. The goddess Portlandia is calling
you. Our living Earth is calling you. Welcome Home!
