Hello TIC Teachers!

I hope you are doing well and if you haven’t already, that you are planning to take a much-deserved break from school this coming week, you’ve earned it! I wanted to share some helpful tips to prepare you and your trout for spring break!

Preparing for mid-length break (7-10 days)

· It is not mandatory to visit the trout during a mid-length vacation, however checking in to make sure everything is working properly is a good idea.

· If you have seen food accumulation in the tank it is a good idea to rinse your foam filters.

· Do not feed more before the vacation.

· Siphon the gravel and add new water right before break; take care not to alter the tank temperature too much during this process.

Preparing for LONG break (11+ days)

· Follow the same preparations above.

· Trout are wild animals that can survive lean times; however, one scheduled feeding about halfway through the break is helpful.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns during this time and I can’t wait to release more trout in the next few weeks!

Best,
