University invites applications for two tenure track positions beginning
Fall 2016 to teach core undergraduate courses in Women, Gender and
Sexuality Studies; ability to teach interdisciplinary feminist research
methods is required. Areas of expertise are open, but the department
is looking to broaden the areas of expertise represented by its faculty,
particularly in the areas of feminist science studies, disability studies,
global/area studies, and LGBTQ Studies. We are especially interested in
candidates who value activism and social justice and have a strong
commitment to service learning. All faculty members engage in research, advise
and mentor students, and are involved in department, college, university,
and community/professional service. Salary is commensurate with skills and
experience.
Required:
- Ability to teach interdisciplinary research methods and other
WGS core courses.
- Demonstrated teaching success in WGS courses
- Demonstrated scholarly activity and research agenda in WGS
- PhD by August 1, 2016 for appointment as assistant professor
Preferred:
- A Ph.D. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting diversity
among students, faculty, and the community
- Experience in mentoring and advising undergraduate research
- Demonstrated commitment to service learning, activism and
social justice
WGS offers a BA and BS degree and two minors, including a new minor in
LGBTQ Studies. Faculty teach six courses per year reflecting both the
candidate's expertise and the needs of Women, Gender, and Sexuality
Studies. In addition to Feminist Research Methods (WGS 300), courses taught
may include: Introduction to Gender Studies (WGS 200), Introduction to
LGBTQ Studies (WGS 224), Foundations of Feminism (WGS 360), Queer Theory
(WGS 365), Global Feminisms (WGS 450), Contemporary Theory and Practicum
(WGS 491) and Capstone (WGS 495).

Studies Association Annual Conference in Milwaukee and additional telephone
