Job Description:
Would you like to be at the forefront of dance in the liberal arts? Are you a dynamic, innovative dance teacher/artist committed to student learning and mentoring in an urban, diverse setting? Do you have an expertise teaching ballet or modern/contemporary dance technique and enjoy creative activities and/or theoretical inquiry? Do you have other specialties and skills that would enhance a distinguished curriculum? If so, then you may be an ideal person to join our faculty.
Requirements:
We invite your application for one of two positions, both at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track or non-tenure track - based on qualifications), beginning August 2015. Our new colleague must have expertise and/or teaching abilities in one or more techniques (modern/contemporary dance or ballet) or studio and performance practices. Based on your unique skills, your teaching load will also include one or more of the following courses: partnering, pointe, improvisation, pedagogy, dance technology, dance history, dance science (anatomy), non-western dance forms, composition, and/or another area of expertise. You should also have previous experience creating original choreography; restaging works; and rehearsing and coaching for performances. Additional duties include mentoring student projects; advising dance majors; participating in student assessments and audition processes; serving on departmental and college committees, and participating in recruitment activities. Qualifications include a terminal degree and/or substantial professional experience and credentials at the time of appointment.
