Hi,

I have the Retevis Ailunce HA2 radio which has some basic APRS support.  But they just released a new firmware update that exposes the TNC as a KISS TNC over bluetooth. (I'm installing and testing now).  The documentation shows using APRSDroid as the example app.  Any chance we can get support for this radio with WOAD?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

As long as the Retevis Ailunce HA2 has a standard implementation of the KISS protocol then it should already work with WoAD without requiring any changes. You should just need to create a session with Protocol: Packet, TNC type: KISS, Connection type: Bluetooth and then pair your Android device to the radio. Leave the Device manufacturer as Generic.

Hope that helps,

Tim, it seems like Retevis did something odd with their initial firmware that turned on the TNC feature. I couldn't get WoAD working either but don't think it's a WoAD issue. I am fairly certain something is off in the radio/firmware. I covered it in this video https://youtu.be/xs6RZ-jhtcg trying to warn other operators. WoAD keyed the radio just fine and initiated the connection but it is almost like the radio isn't pushing the received packets back to the app. I also tried it in Pat Winlink which didn't work either.
