If we have forgotten anyone, please
let us know. We want to celebrate the generosity of all our
volunteers. We also understand how difficult it is, in many cases, for
people to volunteer and to help out in this trail building endeavor – age,
health, distance to travel, jobs, family, and life’s many commitments –
makes it impossible. We do understand.
However, we are now offering everyone an opportunity to join in!
As you know, we have been plagued
with record amounts of rain this spring & summer. One of our most
treasured trails runs along the old Cherry Creek Water Works and we will lose it
if substantial repairs are not done. This trail was not written in the
grant which we received from the state and therefore there is no money in the
grant for saving this trail. The land is owned by Clyde Rogers and it is a
joint trail shared by the Cherry Creek Snow Goers and the Chautauqua County
Equestrian Trail System – that’s us. It will need machinery, product,
labor., and pipe to save the trail and that is where we come in – they need us
to provide 20 feet of 30 inch pipe which will cost, with tax, $550.00. So,
if 20 people send in $27.50, we would have the pipe paid for and they
could begin saving the trail. I have ridden these trails for 25 years, and
that trail along the water works is one of our most beautiful
trails.
So, this is your chance to jump in
and “Join the Fun”. Send a check for $27.50 made out to Dottie Lauricella
and send it to: CCETS

Stay tuned! We will keep you up
dated on the pipe purchase.
We do have a milestone to
celebrate: On Monday afternoon, the first leg of the trail over the hill
to Cherry Creek was started. Hopefully, all the paperwork will be in
order, and we will be seen breaking through onto the other side towards West
Road in a couple of weeks. We can always use your help. We leave the
club house every week day morning at 9:30 with the Corrections Gang but we have
so much still to do we could use another crew working on other trails. The
Inmates do not come on weekends, so anyone who can offer help on a Saturday or
Sunday would be appreciated and welcomed.
