Hi Amy,
I was referred to you from my friend Deanna in hopes you could pass an email along to your group about my horse I am trying to rehome.
My husband and I rescued Faith from a kill pen situation about 2 years ago and have been working with her to rehabilitate and eventually find her a proper home. We do this as a hobby, one horse at a time. However, our situational circumstances have changed unexpectedly and we will be relocating out of state for my husband's job. We are terrified our Faith will end up in the wrong hands and go right back to abuse or a kill pen. She is the sweetest Arabian mare you will ever meet.
Pros: She has no bad vices or manners. No kick, bite, rear or buck. No bolt either. She is eager to learn and does well with constant repetition and routine. My 5 year old can lead her around in our yard all day. She has had a saddle on, but no rider. You can take her halter on and off with no issues. She is easy to approach in her stalls Takes a blanket all winter. Respects the fence and is very low on the pecking order. She is used to being stalled for freezing cold/wet weather but turned out for all other times.
Cons: We are still working on picking up her feet. In the interim we pin her in her stall and use a chisel to chip them down. She sees shadows in her left eye but has full vision in the other. She is tough to catch in the paddock.
Anything you can do to help us would be really appreciated.
