The Lexington Co-op Home on the Web <http://members.aol.com/LexTalk> has
undergone a redesign to make it more useful and organized.
Now divided into four main sections -- What's new?, About the Lexington
Food Co-op, Co-op links, and Other green links -- viewers can quickly
navigate to areas of interest.
"What's New?" will contain news of what's going on at the Co-op and issues
being undertaken by members and the Board of Directors, such as the battle
against the USDA's Proposed Organic Standards Rule and the boycott against
Gardenburger.
"About the Lexington Food Co-op" lists membership info, our mission
statement, by laws and policies.
Background:
The Lexington Co-op, located at 230 Lexington Avenue, Buffalo, is a
community owned natural foods grocery store, controlled by nearly 500
members from the surrounding neighborhoods and throughout western New
York.
The Co-op has served the needs of the general public for over 26 years,
and appeals to those with special dietary considerations, those concerned
with the environmental and political implications of their purchases, and
those simply looking for a convenient alternative to the mega-supermarket.
The Co-op is open to the general public, though members enjoy special
discounts and purchasing privileges.
The Co-op also strives to support and encourage the growth of the local
economy by maintaining a network of nearly 40 Buffalo business in the
Reciprocal Benefits Membership program. This program offers certain
membership privileges and discounts to employees of other locally owned
businesses. In turn, Lexington members receive discounts at those
businesses.
